All Obama Options Call For Dividing Jerusalem
The Times of London reports that President-elect Obama will adopt the Saudi plan that calls for the establishment of a Palestinian State in Jerusalem. Kadima candidate for Prime Minister Livni supports the Saudi plan.

Little Green Footballs and Hot Air analyze the story.

There have been many stories about what plan will Obama adopt. There are differences between the plans , for example, on the issue of right of return, but they all agree that Jerusalem will be divided to provide for a Palestinian capital.

Outgoing Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice is determined to see Obama continue her failed peace efforts. This story reports on Rice's efforts and the differences between Netanyahu and Livni on this subject. Livni is seen as fully supportive of a deal based on Israel going back to its indefensible  borders of 1949 and Netanyahu defending Israel's right to an undivided Jerusalem and secure borders. Could the differences be any clearer?

I really do not know what President-elect Obama's plans are at this time. All of this speculation in the international media is just that until he becomes president. I do know that he does not want to jeopardize Israel's security. He has repeatedly asserted that Israel is the US's closest ally in the Middle east. Moreover, he spoke with Mr. Netanyahu and Dr. Dore Gold over the summer, so he has heard what the consequences of "land for peace" would mean to the safety, security, and freedom of Israel. At this point we will all have to wait for him to become president; at that time he will openly state his position. As far as I am concerned, if he supports the Saudi plan, I will be very outspoken against such a move by America. Dividing Jerusalem and capitulating Yehuda and Shomron are not viable options for a secure Israel. Such unilateral abandonment of Israeli land must not occur. We Israelis have learned that leaving Gaza and four settlements in the West Bank has cost lives, livelihood, and life styles for about 9,000 of our brethen. Most of the latter individuals' lives are still unbearable because they are still living in poor housing without the means to move, and most of them are unemployed. My hope is that Mr. Obama will be brighter and more discerning than Dr. Rice: giving something for nothing is not in Israel's better interest_ it never has been. It is not the Saudis who will play a direct role in any decision: the Palestinians will play the direct role. According to their charter. the Palestinians still maintain that they are intent on eradicating the State of Israel. I do not differentiate between Fatah and Hamas: both are terrorist groups, and both want to completely subjugate the Land of Israel and transmute it into one Palestine. Israel must maintain its sovereignty over Jerusalem and the rest of its land. Mr. Netanyahu must be elected to help us fulfill this duty we have had from the time of our patriarch Abraham for 4100 years to maintain Israel under Jewish tutelage.
