Election Roundup: Netanyahu, Livni, Likud, Kadima,.....
Today's Hebrew newspapers all feature Benjamin Netanyahu as the victor. Livni is relegated to the background. Of course, President Peres still has to decide who forms the next government but the overwhelming Right bent of the next Knesset will make it unlikely he will ask Livni. That is why even the Left wing press is focusing on Netanyahu.
Some more information has come to light about the vote:
1. Likud and Kadima received the same percentage of the vote: 23%
2. Voter turnout which early in the day was very strong ended up at a modest 65.3%. Afternoon winds and rain depressed the afternoon and night vote. This clearly had a negative impact on Likud.
3. The military vote skewed heavily for the Right put did not result in a mandate.
4. President Peres will receive the official vote tally on February 18 and then will begin interviewing the leadership of all the political parties to determine who they support for Prime Minister. After completing this exercise Peres will select one candidate with the task of forming a majority coalition.

Livni claims Kadima won the election!!!
In the 17th Knesset Kadima had 29 seats
In This election Kadima got 28 seats.
In my math Kadima has LOST one seat.
Three months ago, when Likud had only 12 seats, Livni was unable
to form a government. --- Likud now has 27 seats and she thinks
she can still form a durable coalition?????
