Our first installment of Obama's outreach to Iran's nuclear driven Mullahs examined the President's upcoming participation in the Alliance of Civilizations forum in Istanbul. The Alliance has a long history of Iranian financial backing and participation.

Now a Turkish newspaper is reporting that former Iranian President Khatami, a long time proponent of Iran attaining nuclear weapons, will also attend the forum. The paper speculates that this might lead to the first unofficial meeting between President Obama and a major Iranian political figure. Until a week ago Khatami had been a candidate for President of Iran but withdrew. Khatami is the smiling. pleasant looking Mullah who the West has identified as a moderate. In fact, he is a proponent of Iran's nuclear program and a sharp critic of the United States and Israel.

Earlier this week, Obama's special envoy Richard Holbrooke held a private meeting with  Iranian's Deputy Foreign Minister at a conference to discuss the war in Afghanistan.The Obama Administration seems determined to legitimize the repressive regime in Iran.Their strategy includes ignoring the human rights abuses in Iran.
