Obama Takes Iran Off The Table
We have commented on the Obama Administration's penchant to dictate policy to Israel without extending the courtesy of consulting Israel, America's most important ally in the Middle East. Even before his first official meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu, President Obama has declared that Israel will commit to the establishment of a Palestinian State, Israel will open its nuclear program to United Nations inspections, and the United States will develop an Iran policy without seeking advice from the State of Israel.
Now One Jerusalem has learned that the Obama Administration has told Israel that Iran is not on the agenda of the talks between Netanyahu and Obama, next week in Washington. Iran, the single greatest threat to the existence of the State of Israel is not a discussion item even though it is of concern to Israel, The United States, and the world.
One can ask why is Obama unwilling to talk about Iran. Iran has on numerous occasions threatened to annihilate Israel. Iran actively supports terrorists who are fighting Israel and the United States. Iran is a direct threat to America's allies in the Middle East.
Perhaps, Obama does not want to talk about Iran because he knows Prime Minister Netanyahu opposes Obama's kid gloves treatment of the repressive Iranian regime.Netanyahu understands that if Iran attains nuclear capabilities it will threaten everyone. It appears that the Obama Administration has reached the conclusion that we can live in a world with a nuclear Iran. It is clear that Obama does not want to debate these sharp differences of opinion. He does not want to be told that he is wrong. So instead of talking about this issue he is going to try and bully Israel into a failed Palestinian policy and try to deter Israel from attacking Iran's nuclear facilities.
There is another aspect of Iran policy that should be discussed. The Obama Administration has abandoned America's traditional policy of verbally defending the victims of human rights violations in Iran. An Iranian born journalist recently told us that he was shocked and disappointed that America has dropped its human rights agenda. "Human rights is an American issue," he said. Maybe it was pre-Obama, but it is not anymore.
Israel must be coming to the revelation that it now stands alone. Although multitudes of Christians in the west continue to be wholehearted supporters, the powers that be in Washington have washed their hands of a longstanding friendship. Obama's worldview is so catagorically opposite of the majority of Americans it is almost laughable. However, now that power is in his hands, the true liberal soul of the man begins to stand out clearly. That Iran has no intentions of talking up peace and co-exitence does not enter his wildest dreams. The result will be a nightmare for Israel and America. Destinies that were once intertwined are now being stripped to go their separate, weaker ways.
