Today, the Obama Administration's National Security Adviser, Jim Jones, reiterated their policy of linking the Palestinian and Iranian issues. In an interview on ABC news, Jones said "We understand Israel's preoccupation with Iran..."

This sounds like the Obama team is not preoccupied with Iran acquiring nuclear capabilities. It should be.

(This attitude should be of concern to Americans, Israelis, and the whole world. Unfortunately, no one should be surprised by this lackadaisical approach toward Iran. A few months back the Obama team floated the idea of providing nuclear energy to Iran. This is the same failed track taken by the Clinton Administration in its relations with North Korea. Clinton helped North Korea attain nuclear power for supposedly peaceful uses. To no one's surprise North Korea took the gift and started developing weapons grade nuclear energy.)

While Jones claims that creating a Palestinian State will help Israel stop Iran from annihilating it, the logic behind this argument escapes everyone including Israel's Arab neighbors who keep telling Obama to concentrate on Iran and not the Palestinians.

In an op-ed published today, Alan Dershowitz makes a powerful case for de-linking the Iran and Palestinian issues.Dershowitz argues, "the threat from a nuclear Iran is existential and immediate for Israel. It also poses dangers to the entire region, as well as to the US - not only from the possibility that a nation directed by suicidal leaders would order a nuclear attack on Israel or its allies, but from the likelihood that nuclear material could end up in the hands of Hezbollah, Hamas or even Al Qaeda. .."
