Will Obama Meet The Iran Challenge?
It seems that almost every day North Korea and Iran are defiantly challenging the Obama Administration. After declaring that by engaging North Korea and giving them the tools to develop nuclear capabilities they had headed off problems with North Korea both the Bush and the Obama Administrations have seen the rogue regime openly pursue their deadly nuclear program.

So far, the Administration's response has done nothing to dispel the impression that they are short of a strategy to deal with this problem. Secretary of State Clinton keeps verbally threatening North Korea and Secretary of Defense Gates is reassuring America's allies that the United States will defend them against North Korean aggression. Not surprisingly the comfort level of our allies has not increased.

Even Zbigniew Brzezinski, President Carter's National Security Adviser and an Obama adviser, has advocated decisive action from the Obama Administration. Unilateral action, if need be.

At the same time as the Administration is failing to address North Korea, the Administration and its allies are busy spinning the fiction that the failed policies used to stop North Korea will work on Iran. They say that Iran is different.

Brzezinski told PBS News that Iran's religious leaders have declared that it is against Islamic Law to develop nuclear weapons therefore we should negotiate with them. Brzezinski is not the only one peddling this irrational line, Newsweek's cover story repeats this fiction as it challenges all the negative views we have about Iran.

One Jerusalem has learned that at the highest levels of the Obama Administration there is the belief that a nuclear Iran is not a threat. Iran can be contained.

This mindset has led Obama to take a very dangerous course. First, it explains why Obama has made the Palestinian issue more important than stopping Iran. Even though Israel and its Arab neighbors have told the Obama Administration that it should concentrate on stopping Iran's nuclear program Obama keeps putting the irresolvable Palestinian issue in the forefront.

Second, it explains why Obama refuses to put a solid time-limit on talks with Iran. If you don't think they will use nuclear weapons then there is no need to limit talks. Of course, when it comes to the Palestinians, Obama is tenacious about bringing talks to a conclusion -- as he continues to threaten Israel.

Looking into the future we see serious dangers on the horizon. Given the Obama Administration's failures with Ahmadinejad in power look for an even more lax response if someone else gets elected in Iran's upcoming presidential election. There is no doubt that if Ahmadinejad loses we will be inundated with stories of how a "moderate" is now in power. If this occurs it is important to remember that the President of Iran does not hold the power: The religious Council of Elders does.  Also, that none of the presidential candidates will stop the nuclear program nor renounce threats to annihilate Israel.

One of the Presidential candidates is wanted for the bombing of the Jewish Center in Argentina.
