Obama Clarifies: Israel Is The Problem Not The Palestinians
President Obama invited a very select group of Jewish leaders to the White House. Like all his events, Obama made sure that his supporters dominated the room. Flanked by staffers Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod, Obama overloaded the guest list with left leaning American Jews. Groups like Peace Now, The National Jewish Democrat Council, and J Street, all of whom oppose the the elected government of Benjamin Netanyahu, were included among the typical "major Jewish organizations."  Obama made sure that groups supporting the right wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu were a distinct minority.

From a few published reports and other sources, One Jerusalem has pieced together a picture of what took place at this meeting. In short, Obama made it clear that he feels Israel must be pushed to make a deal with the Palestinians - which means that Obama is planning to force Israel to compromise on Jerusalem, settlements, the West Bank, and possibly the right of return.  He will not be dissuaded by facts on the ground (more on this later), and he sees a moral equivalency between the plight of the Palestinians and the needs of the State of Israel.

When Malcolm Hoenlein of the Conference of Major Organizations made the case that progress on the Palestinian front comes when there is "no daylight" between the policies of the United States and Israel, Obama responded that despite overwhelming support by President Bush no progress was made. When Hoenlein pointed out that under Bush, Israel took the momentous step of withdrawing from Gaza (One Jerusalem opposed this action) and previously under other friendly Administrations went the extra mile, like adopting The Road Map, Obama refused to let these facts change his mind.

Our friend Rick Richman does a superb job responding to Obama:

The following would be my summary of the progress over the past eight years -- which Obama apparently ignored in his response to the group:

After the Palestinians rejected an offer of a state at Camp David in 2000, rejected the Clinton Parameters in 2001, and conducted a terror war against Israeli civilians from September 2000-2002, Israel nevertheless agreed in 2003 to the "Performance-Based Roadmap" for the creation of a Palestinian state, despite reservations about the manner in which that plan would actually be implemented.

In 2003 and thereafter, Israel ceased all settlement activity -- as it understood that Phase I Roadmap obligation (no new settlements; no building outside settlement boundaries; no financial incentives for Israelis to move to settlements) -- and believed American officials agreed with its interpretation of that obligation.

In 2004, after the Palestinian Authority failed to meet its own Phase I Roadmap obligation (sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist groups and infrastructure), Israel nevertheless proposed to dismantle every existing settlement in Gaza (not just "outposts"), remove every Israeli soldier, and turn over the entire area to the Palestinian Authority -- in exchange for a written American commitment to defensible borders and retention of the major settlement blocs necessary to insure them.

In 2005, after receiving the American commitment, Israel proceeded to carry out the Gaza disengagement, despite the political and social upheaval within Israel it caused, including the break-up of the ruling party and nationwide demonstrations, and - at State Department insistence - further dismantled four settlements (not just "outposts") in the West Bank as well, to demonstrate the disengagement would be "Gaza First," not "Gaza Last."

In 2006, after the Palestinians elected their premier terrorist group to control their government, Israelis nevertheless re-elected Kadima on a platform of "convergence" (the new name for withdrawal from the West Bank), and would have carried it out but for the attacks by Hamas from Gaza and Hezbollah from Lebanon that caused two wars and finally convinced Israelis further withdrawals were insane.

In 2007, despite the Palestinian failure to carry out its Phase I dismantlement obligation, and its categorical rejection of Phase II (a state with provisional sovereignty before Phase III final status negotiations), Israel agreed to proceed immediately to final status negotiations once again under the "Annapolis Process."

Throughout 2008, Israel negotiated with its "peace partner" under the accelerated process, and offered 100 percent of the West Bank (after land swaps) for a state, with concessions on other major issues, all of which were rejected.

During this eight-year period, the Palestinian concessions (aka reciprocal "progress") can be enumerated more briefly:  zero.

But Obama reiterated his commitment to forcing Israel to give Palestinians what they want. In other words he does not want to be deterred from his prejudices by the facts.

One Jerusalem has been warning Israel's supporters that the Obama Administration is dead set on using all its power to force Israel to capitulate even if it means dividing Jerusalem and weakening its defenses.  We must continue to recruit people in the campaign to defend Israel and Jerusalem.  Signing our Jerusalem petition is a sure fire way to stay informed about important news that you will probably not get anywhere else and to learn insider analysis.

As Obama's troubles at home multiply, look for him to show leadership by beating up on Israel. We need to be prepared to fight back.

Two issues here are insane: (1) give up all of Judea and Samaria, and (2) slice up Jerusalem, divide it in half and destroy the territorial sovereignty of a nation that now maintains Jerusalem as a viable and highly functioning city where persons of all religions can come to pray in the manner in which they so choose. First, to take all 150,000 Jews living in Judea and Samaria and relocate them somewhere--Where!!!!???--is never going to happen. If it is going to be anything like that horrid disengagement from Jewish Gaza that left 10,000 Jewish persons without homes, unemployed and still now suffering divorces which had never before occuurred with children losing their religious roots in a previously pious Orthodox Judaism, the onslaught of dispelling and dispersing 150,000 pious Jews in this present case will do no than leave at least 100,000 of these, our fellow Jews, living in the streets with families torn to shreds, unemployment the norm, and a rash of dysfunctional families and divorces like has never before been seen in the Modern State of Israel. The inhumanity of it all is no less than barbaric. Who takes 150,000 people and rips them from their homes, (a) creating a nation-wide catastrophe, and (b) is of such proportions inhumane and ill-conceived as to show contempt for the integrity of human life? No responsible individual could ever anywhere within his or her own mind ever conceive of doing such a thing! Second, Jerusalem is Jerusalem -- it works! For forty plus years it has been a thriving city open to all races, religions, and creeds, and free to worship as they so desire. Jerusalem is at the center of all Jewish worship. Prayers and prayerbooks endlessly refer to Jerusalem and our desire for L-rd G-d HaShem Elohim to restore it as His Holy Dwelling Place, His Sacrosanct City, where the Beit HaMikdash is to be built and become the Third Temple of Jerusalem, of Israel, The Holy Of Holies, The Holy Temple always being the centre of all Prayer, focus and worship within the Jewish religion. The Holy Temple, presently, is part of and beneath The Temple Mount. Major restoration must be done to restore it to the Glory that it has always been and to lead to the building of the third Beit HaMikdash in its place. This City--JERUSALEM--is so sacred to the Jewish Peoples and is and always has been at the center of our devotions that to cut it out of our hearts--in half--would no less than to rip the very Soul and heart out of each and every Jew, within Israel and throughout the Diaspora. And lack of sensitivity to Jerusalem's place within the Jewish collective psyche and soul would show no less than an immense degree of cultural, racial and religious insensitivity, and is something that (1.) should never even be considered, and (2.) can not ever be permitted. Mr. Obama, there is no other culture, religion, or anything that so Prays to and reveres what we in Hebrew call Yerushalayim. The Palestinians only turned toward Israel as we--Israel--made the deserts blossom. It is not their city, nor has ever been. It is the City of one and only One Peoples, Mr. Obama: the Jewish Peoples. We intend to live by what G-d in all of His mercy and in all of His might has so commanded us to do. We implore you: do not seek to disengage and sever Israel once again from who and what we are. We are the Jewish Peoples of Israel with Jerusalem as Its Holy and Divine Capital. Respect us, Mr. Obama; respect us. The Arabs, the Palestinians, and the Muslims all have Mecca and their Holy City to which they make their annual Hajj. Medina is their second Holiest City. The Dome of the Rock most improperly, even by Muslim standards, is built upon the Holy and Sacred Temple Mount and the Second Beit HaMikdash. Mohammad's place is in Mecca, their Holiest of Holiest Sites. YERUSHALAYIM is the Eternal Kingdom of the Jews. Leave it at that. G-d Bless you and and may you now come to recognize the Holiness that the entire City of Jerusalem is for the Entire Jewish Peoples, our strivings and our longings, and our Home. In Peace President Obama, In Peace.

Listen! What does it take to understand the motives of the various parties involved? HAMAS, the most potent force in determining whether or not there will ever be peace between Israel and the Palestinians, draws from its "Charter" ("The Hamas Charter," 1988) to drum up its message: "Actually, the links are distant from one another [in time], and the obstacles placed before the jihad warriors by the followers of Zionism stopped the jihad from continuing. Nevertheless the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to bring the promise of Allah to pass, no matter how long it takes. As the prophet [Muhammad], may the prayer of Allah and his blessing of peace be upon him, said: 'The time [Judgment Day] will not come until Muslims fight the Jews and kill them and until the Jew hides behind the rocks and trees, and [then] the rocks and trees will say: 'Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew hiding [behind me], come and kill him''" ["Hadith Al-Bukhari," a Hadith in general being a series of teachings for purposes of leadership and guidance for the Muslim Peoples," as found within the "HAMAS Charter," 1988, pps. 15-16]. Now, there are several things in here that are most telling. What sort of people--Peace Partners, we say?--live with the view that they will continue armed warfare for no other motive than for warfare itself against another Peoples, hereby the Jewish Peoples, "no matter how long it takes ('The Hamas Charter', 1988, p. 15)" and that "the Islamic Resistance Movement ('Hamas') aspires to bring the promise of Allah to pass ('The Hamas Charter', 1988, p.15)" until, in this case, they have fully annihilated this foe that they have it set in their minds to destroy and annihilate, that is the State of Israel. Israel has never done anything against Hamas except when attacked and repeatedly and repeatedly and repeatedly attacked, yet Hamas has initiated one assault after the next against the State of Israel with its purpose being only to see to it that all Jews are dead. Now, that sounds like anti-Semitism to me, and it is no less than anti-Semitism. Thus, not only is Hamas an outlawed terrorist group--with which too many Western Nations now illicitly do business--it is also the anti-Semitic leader of what had once been Jewish Gaza, which they--and their works will confirm this--conquered in their own way. It was a Victory for HAMAS, a war dance, and the cheering and shouting were Qassams flying all over and into Sderot, destroying whole Jewish families, leaving all too many people in horrific states of shock and even one person in a state of shock is a horrific thing to see or, even moreso, to have caused to have done to another. Now, one may ask: why be so concerned with HAMAS when it is the P.A., Abbas' Palestinian Authority with his Fatah and Al-Aksa Martyr's Brigades, that we are dealing with in this newly resurgent and now fantasized as bouyant peace process? Simple. HAMAS is throughout the West Bank, as the Palestinians so call it, and has been for at least the last 20 years. They have a massive infrastructure already established, and a potent military with which to most readily roll over the Palestinian Authority forces and to take over the West Bank--most readily!!!--just as they ever so easily took over Gaza from the P.A., which couldn't muster a force with which to fight beyond a day or two. And that is exactly what will happen if any of Judea or Samaria or ever--so daredly ever--even any little, tiny piece of Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) dare ever be given to the Palestinian Authority. Within a week or two, the "West Bank" would erupt, and HAMAS would emerge victorious, with Qassams and everything else flying all over Tel-Aviv and all surrounding areas and using surface-to-air missiles with which to shoot down planes coming into and even trying to leave Israel's Ben Gurion Airport. AND MANY JEWS Would DIE! Mr. President, is this the legacy that you wish for the Great State of Eretz Yisrael? I most certainly hope not. I know that you must think, study, and research much more deeply into this venture of yours that you are into that, and with all due respects Mr. President, is a cause celebre for a Presidency gone sour. You have gone no further than President George W. Bush did in Iraq, who, though with much conntentiousness, achieved much, particularly with the brilliance of "The Surge," a move forward rather than a retreat backward, which is what it is that you seem to always be telling the Great State of Israel to do, that is, to "retreat backwards." You are in disarray in Afghanistan, with all due respects, Mr. President. The Taliban do most regrettably seem to have the upper hand. Word has it that some personnel--or even yourself? I am just hypothesizing, Sir--have even been seeking to come to some sort of a "treaty" with the Taliban which would then give them a say in the running of the country. However, is it not the Taliban that ritually enslaves the population under its control, and as brutish as these words sound, rape women, even with gangs of their "soldiers" attacking even a particular woman, or two or three. This is most heinous. So, I daresay Sir, you must defeat the terrorists in Afghanistan, yet this, regrettably is not coming about so readily and some even consider a treaty. Pakistan is a mess, and do we have a pre-emptive strike against them if fundamentalist radical extremist terrorist Muslims take over that country and then have a nuclear arsenal at their disposal? And nuclear materials distributed amongst terrorist organizations as would then occur in Pakistan would cause the devastation of Our Great Nation in a way that I don't even want to conceive. Your troubles are not with Israel and the Palestinians. You have a control over the Israelis: spare parts, etc. Your desire to destroy Judea and Samaria--150,000 Israelis homeless and with nowhere to go--and even your consideration of a severance of Yerushalayim, which you must comprehend is not only an immense religious sin at a level of which you may not as yet be able to even conceive, would just plain and simple jeopardize Israel's very own existence. You would have effectively demoralized the Peoples of the State of Israel, and might even actually have committed such an act that ultimately placed Iranian tanks with full brigades of Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps troops at the ready to strike into Israel and backed up by other Arabic nations with Hamas all along doing its thing. Sir, I am sorry to have to tell you this: but, it is immoral what you are seeking to do. You cannot just take 150,00 people from their homes and leave them with no jobs and nowhere to go, that is, no homes in which to live; and that is precisely what occurred at the Defeat of Jewish Gaza, and that was only 10,000 people at most, and they have fared horribly. Think Sir, think: do you not understand how precious is a single human life? Sir, also, on the matter of the "right of return." "Right of Return," by International Law, only applies to those persons who were actually living in the area concerned at the time they were living there; and not to their progeny. This whole sheer, utter right of return thing is an utter fabrication and a bastardization of International Law, and makes no sense. Further, the Palestinians who fled from what is Israel were in no way ever coerced by the Israeli Army (IDF, Israel Defense Forces, Hagganah at that time) or Government to leave from where they werre living for the moment. Again, they came in after the Israelis turned the desert into blooming farmlands and left, during 1947 and 1948, when Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia told these very same Palestinians to flee from what is Israel so that their forces, these pan-Arabic forces, could come rushing in, kill all of the Israelis, dump them into the oceans or wherever they would stockpile their bodies, and then the Palestinians could come rushing back into this newfound homeland of theirs and--and this is evil, Sir!--just take the dead Israelis homes from them, as they would now--at that time--be vacated! This is an abomination! And still to this day, they say: we will fight the Zionists (and it usually runs something as "Zionist pigs" where they mock us, and you, too, Sir, in their dailies, in their "Political Sections," cartoons that is Sir!) and take all of Their Lands "no matter how long it takes." Sir, I truly, truly do not comprehend what you are doing: with whom is it that you are seeking to fantasize a "peace"? They don't want the Lands; they just want all of the Jews DEAD!!! "Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew hiding [behind me], come and kill him..." In conclusion, Uri Lubrani, former Israeli Ambassador to Iran "and considered one of Israel's top experts on Iran, says United States policies are leading inexorably to a tragedy ('Arutz Sheva', 'Iranian Expert: Obama Leading to Calamity', by Hillel Fendel, July 3, 2009, p.1)." He adds that "I fear that the Americans don't know what to do, but haven't yet realized that they don't know what to do. A tragedy is unfolding in front of our eyes. The tragedy is that the American administration actually will come to the conclusion, at the end, that negotiations have no chance...('Arutz Sheva', 'Iranian Expert: Obama Leading to Calamity', by Hillel Fendel, July 3, 2009, p.1)." Though Ambassador Lubrani is referring to Iran in his well-thought through statement, it is truly applicable to the state of affairs in the attempted and nuanced pseudo-negotiations that are faltering back and force between Obama, the Palestinians, or is it Hamas, and the Israelis. They do not want peace, Mr. President. When will you get this through your head, Mr. President? On an ongoing basis, Hamas prisoners urge "suicide attacks inside Israel" ("CBS News," "Internet Terror Monitor," "Hamas Prisoners Urge Suicide Attacks Inside Israel," January 13, 2009, p.1) while a Fatah Official screams: "Our goal is not Peace, but Rather Palestine," ("Arutz Sheva," "Fatah Official: 'Our Goal is Not Peace, but Rather Palestine'," July 13, 2009, p.1). Mr. Obama, I am strongly against the pressure you are placing on the sovereign State of Israel. I believe that you must think more deeply into your own roots: it is the Israelis who are being persecuted--bombed and bombed, and now being told as a consequence of being bombed and bombed, and to show good will and good faith, to give and give away more and more Land, until there is, at most, a mere ten-mile-wide strip of Land in the center of that nation; and indefensible. Is it your goal, Sir, to see the State of Israel annihilated? From a neutral perspective, and with severe regret, it most certainly seems so. Some people say that you will not hear, that you will not listen, listen to the cries of the Israelis suffering immeasurably. I am one of those who believe that you will come to your senses; just, please Sir, don't do it too late when the tragedy is irrevocable. G-d Bless.

Overall, this is a good piece. I have only one problem with the relating of facts during the Bush years. I voted for George W. Bush in 2000, sadly. I hoped he would be different from his anti-Semitic father because he claimed to be a Christian believer, unlike George Herbert Walker Bush.

You wrote: "In 2005....Israel proceeded to carry out the Gaza disengagement, despite the political and social upheaval within Israel it caused, including the break-up of the ruling party and nationwide demonstrations, and - at State Department insistence - further dismantled four settlements (not just "outposts") in the West Bank as well, to demonstrate the disengagement would be "Gaza First," not "Gaza Last."

Let's be clear, Bush and the Republicans hounded and pestered Sharon to retreat from Jewish land. The ethnic cleansing of Jews from our land - was codified in the 2004 Republican national party platform - along with the call for the establishment of a Muslim-enemy state in Israel.

This was done at the behest of Mr. Bush and Karl Rove. If the Secretary of State and her State Department brought pressure to bear, it was in accord with Bush's policy of forcible removal of Jews from our land. This in no way excuses Sharon for bowing to immoral American pressure.

I am an almost forty year registered Republican. It was Bush's anti-Israel / pro-Islam policies that brought President B. Hussein to the White House. As Bush relentlessly pounded on Israel to appease our jihadist friends, Republicans and conservative activists stood solidly by Bush. I know because I questioned them. I condemned Bush's anti-Israel / pro-Muslim jihad policies. It fell on deaf ears, even by our so-called Christian friends. Let's be clear, the American people have the government they (we) so richly deserve.

Steve

Do you honestly believe that Mr Hussein will listen to you? He's dead set on destroying Israel, what does he care about 6 million Jews? He's got 1.3 billion brothers financing his flagging economy and ready to help him destroy all the jews, I repeat, do you honestly believe he cares one iota about Jews? check again. He's a muslim and will always be, he follows the Coran "diplomatically" but the ultimate goal is what both writers mentioned before me. The only way to protect Israel is Israel Itself. No change as always. He should simply be removed from office, one way or another.

This enrages me!!! The nerve of obama! I didn't vote for the monster because I could tell he was evil from just looking into his eyes, they are dead! He has no soul, and if he ever did, it's gone now and replaced by a demon! I want him impeached as president of my country! God will get him!! Obama will be destroyed!! I pray that Prime Minister Netanyahu will not back down!! Not 1 inch Sir, please don't let his evil agenda force you to do it!! Don't allow this monster to move his embasy into Jerusalem either! No more land !! Don't allow this to happen! After I finish this. I'm going to email him again and tell him that Israel isn't the problem, he is!!! He's a muslim through and through! Don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth!!!

And look at him! He takes his family all over the world! Guess who's paying for that? We are!!!!! He is an antichrist 100%!!! I pray for the Jewish people all the time, and I also pray that the Jewish people that remain here, and have backed him now see him for what he really is!! I plead with all Jewish people here in America! Please leave America while you still are able! He's going to repeat what Hitler started with the jewish people! Please go, go to your homeland now!!! Don't wait before it's too late!! Don't trust him he's a liar!!! He's a fake!! He takes orders from Satan himself! Please go to Israel and pray for all of us here when you do!! I call on God to come and deal with him soon! Please Father, not even 1 hair on any Jewish head be harmed! Mark my words people, he will do this sooner or later it will come!!! May God go with you and protect you from all harm!
Be safe my beloved people, be safe!

Sherry J.

Let ME clarify:

First off, beyond the hideous anti-semitism of obama, know this: Odds are that he isn't even legally qualified to be president. His birthplace is legitimately questioned by many Americans - and his attempts to cover-up, obscure and change the subject only intensifies the suspicions (could this be the "change" he said he'd bring?). As far as many people are concerned, he is an illegal alien, squatting in the White House - and he is really a stealth moslem. He not only wants to destroy the USA as we know it, he wants to destroy Eretz Yisrael.

Secondly, consider the intellectual dishonesty of most in the US government, the UN, and all the other global meddlers.

They all insist on the so-called "Palestinians" (aka, garden-variety, generic Arabs) being granted a state of their own.

BUT... How many states are these so-called "Palestinians" supposed to have?!?!?

The so-called "Palestinians" (aka, garden-variety, generic Arabs) ALREADY have a state, it was granted decades ago. The Palestinian Mandate - which covered all the land from present-day Israel, Jordan, and reaching into present-day Iraq - was carved up into what was supposed to be the Jewish State of Israel and a state for the so-called "Palestinians" (aka, garden-variety, generic Arabs)...

The state for the so-called "Palestinians" (aka, garden-variety, generic Arabs) exists today - the nation known as Jordan.

Just because the Arabs got into a snit and refused to recognize or accept the facts on the ground should NOT entitle them to claim, usurp and otherwise attempt to steal (or SQUAT, as in obama's own example) any more land from tiny Israel.

The so-called "Palestinians" (aka, garden-variety, generic Arabs) need to get over it. They need to stop the terrorism, the bombings, the rockets, the murders. They need to start building a culture of life - and they need to insist on THEIR "right of return" to THEIR own land: Jordan.

Golda Meier got it right: there will NEVER be any peace until the so-called "Palestinians" truly love their children MORE than they HATE Israel/Jews. Until they learn to nurture & cherish their children, rather than abusing & corrupting them with the vilest form of hate, they will NEVER be content in, or with, their own land. They need to beat their weapons into plowshares and put their energies into making a life and home in their own land: Jordan.

Jordan must welcome them, and all future aid for the so-called "Palestinians" should be directed towards programs & infrastructure to support the so-called "Palestinians" - then, and only then, can they start to really be a people, and not just be labeled as so-called "Palestinians", and become a part of the nation that WAS ALREADY given to them: Jordan.

Sadly, with the intellectual dishonesty in the global nanny types - and the virulent anti-semitism they almost universally embrace - the odds are slim this will ever happen. I don't see any statesman, with the foresight or courage to advocate for the truth & spearhead the revolution, being raised up from the motley assortment of power-mongers that populate the world stage. Of course, their goals are all driven by their own selfish desires, lust for power and other dark purposes - the TRUTH & intellectual honesty be damned.

In the meantime. just remember Psalm 122:6-9...

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love
you. "May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within
your palaces." For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I
will now say, "May peace be within you." For the sake of the
house of the L-RD our G-d I will seek your good.

You know, this is crazy. Expected, unfortunately, but crazy. I want to rant, and rave, but I think everyone hear said what I was thinking in some form, for better or worse, Still, I think that dividing up Yerushalayim would be like splitting the White House into two, or more, parts, and giving it to Cuba or Russia. Hey, if Yerushalayim has to go, so does the White House. As we know, Obama is probably not going to say "Yes" to that. Second, Yerushalayim Will Never be split again. Can I get an "Amen!" to that? The Living G-d will surround His City as a wall of fire, and be the glory within Her. With that said, we have to pray for Yerushalayim.
About the current American President, I did not vote for him, because something in the Spirit told me that he would never stand up to Y'isra'el. I did vote for George W. Bush in both elections. I'm proud of that fact, even if I did not agree with his policies on Y'isra'el. I prayed for him, and believed that he would at least show some respect for Y'isra'el. In hindsight, maybe he has. After all, he didn't spend every moment of the day attacking Y'isra'el; he Went After terrorist nations like Iraq and others. (Haven't seen Obama do that: He's trying to BeFriend them! Oy vey!) Anyway, I digress a little. (Okay, so I did rant a little.)
I agree with Arden Beyer wrote about the holy sites. Yerushalayim was never an Islamic "holy site." It NEVER will be. Let's keep that fact as it is: Plain and Simple. It makes life easy, or at least it should.
My point is, when all is said and done: let's look at the facts, pray for Yerushalayim and those that believe in her, and stay strong. I get the feeling that this battle is only going to get worse.

I can and will pray that Israel refuses to yield to the stupidity and hatred that Obama blatantly displays for Israel. I also hope that Israel understands those(the Jewish liberals) that think the United States is on their side are being duped and deceived with self serving motives for the U.S.. Obama and this liberal Congress would sell Israel down the proverbial crap creek if it would help the United States in their move toward the one world government and empower them more in the eyes of the E.U.’s and United Nations plan to erase Israel from the map of the world. Israel please stand your posistion inspite of this administrations ignorance and trust God’s word for in the end it is the ONLY thing that will prevail!!!

we should stop bikering and start attacking back instead of defending ourselves. no one is interresting in reading and learning the facts.
we should call each ambassador in israel and ask explanations for each house and street they build in their capital city. make the proud american ambassador remember that they stole Indian land , and the proud British ambassador that the Normans stole land from the Saxons, and that the proud French anbassadorthat the Franks stole land from the Gaules ....and so on .

I am still trying to figure out why the Israeli's should have to answer to anyone for building anything in their country, cities, neighborhoods etc..

If you are attempting to give us all a history lesson then you need to go back to the beginning when "THE ONLY TITLE OF OWNERSHIP" to Israel was given to the Jewish race in Genisis by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Dear concerned fellow Jewish (and not) friends of Israel!
Lately (after new Middle Eastern policy or rather rhetoric) of Obama administartion has been drawing more or less strong criticism from the audiences like this one (more conservative and leaning towards " no more concessions - no you can't stop settlements" ) and sometimes even more liberal ("how much does he want us to give them (Arabs) to make them want to have" a peace with us?".
Before I direct your attention to a couple of articles by people whose pro-Israel record is unquestionable - Alan Dershowitz and Rabbi Eric Yoffe (Union of Reform Judaism of USA) I would like to make this comment. Let us judge all politicans - on the right and the left, men and women, black, white and yellow - by what they ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISH , in this case what they accomplish to help Israel to maintain her security in the threat from Iran and its proxy terrorist organizations starting with "H".
Let us not try to scream "Muslim! Socialist! Communist! Anti-Semite! Tax and Spend liberal!" at a person who was elected to the office of the President of the US by some millions of US Voters - Jewish too.
Whereas I also get concerned about some rhetoric of Obama Middle Eastern ideas (Cairo speech, pressure to stop "natural growth" of settlements and most of all - trying to set a condition of that as pre-context to putting up a broad anti-Iranian coalition). What I also actually see is that somewhat critical rethorics actually is NOT suported by equally harsh actions - juding form the most recent visit of George Mitchell to Israel and his meetings with Barak, Netaniyahu and Abbas.
OK, time to turn to Dershowitz's article in WSJ:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124649366875483207.html

"..A related threat to Israeli security comes from Iran's proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas. For years, these terrorist groups have disrupted life in Israel by firing rockets at civilians. The range of their weapons now extends to Israel's heartland, including Tel Aviv. The Israeli Defense Forces must retain the ability to prevent and deter rocket fire, even if it comes from behind human shields as it did in southern Lebanon and Gaza. There is no evidence of any weakening of American support for Israel's right to defend its children from the kind of rocket attacks candidate Obama commented on during his visit to Sderot.

There may be coming changes in the Obama administration's policies that do weaken the security of the Jewish state. Successful presidential candidates often soften their support for Israel once they are elected. So with Iran's burgeoning nuclear threat, it's important to be vigilant for any signs of weakening support for Israel's security -- and to criticize forcefully any such change. But getting tough on settlement expansion should not be confused with undercutting Israel's security.".

Now, form Rabbi Yoffe who attended a recent meeting of concerned Jewish leaders with Obama in the White House on July 13

"..I recognize the danger of generalization, but it seems to me that the president’s critics believe that the entire Muslim world is unalterably hostile to Israel and the West; that the Arab states oppose reconciliation with Israel under any and all circumstances; and that there is no element of the Palestinian population that truly wants a peace with Israel.

The president’s detractors are entitled to think this way, but most Americans do not believe that these principles should be the basis of American foreign policy. Neither do most American Jews.

I should emphasize that I write as one who remains suspicious of Arab intentions and skeptical of Palestinian goodwill. There is little in recent history to make us optimistic about the near-term possibilities of a secure peace between Israel and her neighbors.

Yet it is precisely these difficulties that make me supportive of what President Obama is attempting to do. Given the dangers that Israel faces and the high cost of the status quo, I want my president to do everything that he can to strengthen moderate elements of the Palestinian leadership and to encourage those Arab states that may be open to some accommodation with Israel."

I am actually under impression that Rabbi Yoffe is correct in his assessment of "..president’s critics believe that the entire Muslim world is unalterably hostile to Israel and the West; that the Arab states oppose reconciliation with Israel under any and all circumstances; and that there is no element of the Palestinian population that truly wants a peace with Israel.". of this audience. I may be critisized for my naivette (believing that there are always exception to any "rules") - that's OK. But I do want to be fair for assessment of any political decisions - especially given the fact that large part of Israeli population (I personally know a few of such people) are OK with stopping small expensive to guard "illegal" settlements and focusing on Israeli proper should that bring a lomg awaited peace - provided that Arabs stop terrorism and incitement of Jewish state. I also believe that it is NOT an intention of US to pressure Israel to give up Eastern jerusalem - despite some of that rethoric from Hilary Clinton. Let's see what will actually happen and how Oabam may prove that he is much less left of the dial as he is accused of!

I have attempted to post my comments to the discussion above that presented SLIGHTLY different poin of view - not blasting Obama outright for the things that he is NOT and not done and quoting two very prominent pro-Israel activists: Alan Dershowitz with his recent op-ed in WSJ:

and Rabbi Eric Yoffe, Chairman of Union of Reform Judaism:

Both opinions offer more pragmatic views (in my humble opinion) than those posted above that bring God, Muslim faith of Obama (which is a smear tactic) and other apocalyptic issues into the picture of pragmatic Middle Eastern policy that the new US administration is trying to advocate in this region?
I, too, is very concerned about Israel's future - but I am completely against garbling all factors - facts and lies - together when it comes to our President's origin, political stands and course in Middle East. His choice of Chief of Staff (Rahm Emanuel, Israeli) and top strategy advisor David Axelrod - American Jew speaks for that as well. Both figures albeit being jewish - may not be so well liked by the right wing Israelis that dominate this site but there are alternative veiwppoints and we as Jews should respect them and debate them in civilized manner not by screaming "Oh, GOD He (Obama) is a MUSLIM - hje wants to see Israel gone!!!" which is simple a smear acts, sorry to say that. I do hope that this will pass your moderator' reviews - otherwise I will not be inclined to keep reading your e-mail anymore, unfortunately.

President Obama seems to be following the recommendations of the New Strategy for United States-Moslem relations which was published in 2009. On page 49 of this wordy document they wrote: "U S diplomacy to resolve regional conflicts needs to be coordinated with key regional and global partners. For engaging Iran, key partners include the UN Security Council, European Allies, China, Russia, India and Japan. For the Israeli-Palestinian Peace process, the Quartet, the Arab League, and the Organization of the Islamic conference; for Iraq, the UN Security, and Iraq's neighbors; and for Afghanistan, the UN, NATO, and the EU, as well as Pakistan".
The members of this Committee included a former US Secretary of State, Heads of major businesses, including Oil firms. The concepts are clear and meet business needs. Who was going to speak for Israels needs in the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Where are the Moslem Leaders who will be Israel's partner in Peace negotiations? Has anyone heard such comments? All I have seen are reports that the killing of Jews, men, women and children, are celebrated with gala festivities, and distributing candies to children.
The murderers are not to be called terrorists, but freedom fighters. The cause of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the Israeli Occupation of Palestinian land. The proper nomenclature is "disputed land", and was to be negotiated in peace discussions. However, President Obama has already agreed that there is no need for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Israel's fate will be decided by the Quartet and Arab League. History of the Middle East is not an issue with President Obama, nor is their behavior.
We need to write to our Senators and Representatives and ask them to read this document which explains President Obama's behavior in dealing with foreign policy. What do the American people know about the religion and plans of the Moslems? 1.3 billion people are members of the Islam religion, and we should know what life will be like under sharia law.
