ALERT: UPDATE
One Jerusalem recently reported that the Obama Administration was seriously considering using the opening of the United Nations General Assembly in September to box Israel into a corner in the presence of officials representing the nations of the world.
Yesterday, the Left-wing, anti-Israel British paper
The Guardian confirmed that President Obama had "pencilled in" using the United Nations gathering to announce his Middle East Peace initiative.
Obama has pencilled in the announcement of his breakthrough for either a meeting of world leaders at the UN general assembly in New York in the week beginning 23 September or the G20 summit in Pittsburgh on 24-25 September. (Guardian)
One Jerusalem feels that getting this story out is one way of trying to derail an ambush of Israel. We are pleased that thousands of Israel supporters around the world have responded by posting the alert on web-sites, blogging about it, sending e-mails to family and friends. Your efforts have captured the attention of Jewish leaders, officials in Israel and the United States, and ordinary citizens who care for Israel's future. Our web-site has been very busy with visitors looking to be helpful.
Since our alert went out there have been more developments. The most important being that Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to compromise Israel's sovereignty and security by agreeing to Obama's demands for a two year freeze on building in settlements and East Jerusalem. Netanyahu's position reflects the view of most Israelis. A poll released today showed that 2/3 of all Israelis oppose a settlement freeze.
Prime Minster Netanyahu has earned credit for standing up to American pressure. You can help our cause by letting him know you appreciate his principled stance.Contact information for Prime Minister Netanyahu
