If Israeli security measures had been in place on 9-11, then 9-11 would've just been another failed terrorist attack. We should implement these measures now before the next attack and quit wringing our hands over who we might offend.

They tried to implement such rules and the ACLU and the the much loved liberals have had them struck down. Certain groups of middle eastern extraction were up in arms over them from the early 90's on. I wonder why? seems we would have shorter lines less hassle and far fewer rules. My Bubba always said those who scream the most have the most to hide.

Absolutely right-on! Circumstantial profiling is the simplest, surest and quickest way of ferreting-out criminal activity of all kinds. It was not many years ago that Israeli security officers detected a suitcase bomb at Heathrow being innocently carried on an El Al flight to Israel by the pregnant girl friend of an Arab terrorist! She had already passed through British security checks! Political correctness and deliberate refusal to distinguish "black from white" has already cost thousands of lives and will soon cost more! Machines will not detect all types of explosive devices!

It's not fair or accurate to blame the ACLU (which has no hand in TSA policies or procedures) or liberals (Today's screening procedures were in full force for 8 Bush years). The fear of not being politically correct pervades both major parties. I would love more politicians to stand up and say, "Look, we have to scrutinize young Muslim men more closely, because their demographic group is far more likely to be terrorists than any other. We don't wish to insult this group, but we can't ignore facts, and it's stupid to closely screen people who obviously pose no threat, just so Muslims will feel better."

Exactly, what the other people wrote, we have to stop thinking whom we might
Offend; you also have to profile people, and if any of those liberals can’t see the light
Send them to a terrorist camp so they can get educated.
In WW11 the Japanese population was put in concentration camps, it was war and they had to do
It, cruel as it was, we will never know how many lives were saved, there were no liberals then to say
Anything, what people have to realize we are at war with fanatics, using a religion to gather the masses?

For abe4248: The internment of Japanese-American citizens during the war was the worst thing this nation has ever done. The operative word here is "citizens", and placing them in internment camps was just plain wrong, not to mention unconstitutional; they were rounded up, American CITIZENS, for God's sake, relieved of their property, and put in those camps without anything resembling due process of law. Why didn't they round up the Germans on the East Coast -- maybe because they looked like us? I do agree, however, that profiling young Middle Eastern men and other Muslim types would be far more productive than patting down Grandma in her wheelchair.

By evoking the Japanese Interment, we are mixing apples and oranges. That case was an egregious example of abuse by the government against its citizens. Further, the Assistant Attorney General lied to the Supreme Court (see Judge Patel's 1984 opinion in Koramatsu vs. United States).

With airliner security, we have cowardly miscreants using civilian aircraft to make political statements under the guise of some religious justification. If we are weighing political correctness against the security of our community, under these unique circumstances, then political correctness must yield to common sense.

I have undergone this questioning in foreign countries. Yes, it was a little different (and the first time, a little disconcerting) but it was in no way intrusive or embarrassing. Further, if I did not want to undergo the "interrogation" I had a choice. I did not need to fly.

i agree with all the other e-mailers. When 9-11 happened here in new york my first thought was to "hell with being politically correct (thanks Bill Maher) and close down all immigration into this country. now some moronic idiots in N>Y> have given the ok for a masque to be built one block from the world trade center. what a slap in the face to the citizens of this city, the families of those who died and the actual ones who unwillingly gave there lives, come on Pres. Obama let's stop the crap and start dealing with this realistically NOW> everyone should read an article of a speech by Geert Wilders a Dutch member of Parliment oh my god soo true wake-up AMERICA......
