Palestinians Host Foreign Official in Jerusalem
For the last month or two, there appears to be another concerted campaign to challenge Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem and to establish Palestinian rights in the holy city.
In December the European Union
proclaimed that Jerusalem should be the capital of a Palestinian State.
This month the Palestinian Authority officially hosted Norway's Foreign Minister in Jerusalem. Make no mistake the choice of Jerusalem was deliberate. It is part of the process of using the city as the capital of the Palestinians. This meeting took place soon after the
Quartet declared their support for opening Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem.
In addition to this international campaign to pressure Israel to divide its capital city, Arab and leftist activists have repeatedly challenged Israel's right to move against illegal Arab houses in Jerusalem and it attempts to stop Jews from living in so-called "East Jerusalem." Jerusalem's Mayor has even had to
challenge his own government in the defense of Jewish residents in Israel's capital city.
It is important to always keep in mind what is meant by East Jerusalem. First the constant repeating of the term is central to the plan of getting people to think that the city is naturally divisible -- that it is unnatural to think of it as one entity. The term East Jerusalem has come to stand for an area that is naturally an Arab area. It is not.
The Palestinian and the European Union include the Old City and the Temple Mount in East Jerusalem. The last time they controlled that area they chased (and killed) Jews as they ejected them from the Jewish Quarter. From 1948 to 1967 Jews could not live or visit the Old City.
All this talk about creating a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem is talk about turning back the clock and re-creating a situation in which Jews and most Christians could not enter the Old City. We must not let this happen. We must support the State of Israel in its efforts to keep Jerusalem as it is. We must support the State of Israel and the City of Jerusalem as it fights for the rights of Jews to live any where in Jerusalem that they wish to live in.
One one way to be part of this effort is to sign the petition for a united Jerusalem and to get friends and family to do the same. We need to continuously mobilize our supporters to keep them informed and to bolster the leaders of the Jewish State.
All I have to say to anyone telling Israel what to do with thier land is to remember
Joel 3:1-2 !!!!
