[05.23.2010]
Why Is This Anti-Semite Teaching at State University of New York?

On May 6, Ali al-Amin Mazrui, director of the Institute of Global Culture Studies at SUNY Binghamton, openly presented his views that Jews are manipulative geniuses who wield far more power in the United States than they should. During his remarks he questioned: "Whether [President Barack] Obama will be able to escape the notion that three percent of the country is so powerful that the top gentile in the land cannot criticize Israel is not clear."

Mazrui was addressing an "academic" conference at Columbia University. The organization that sponsoring the conference is supposedly dedicated to "gain [ing] some depth to the study of Africa." He spent most of his time comparing Jews to Arabs. His race based analysis led him to observe that "Arabs lagged behind Jews in manifest genius." He asked "What aspects of Marxism are taken from Judaism?"

Why is someone who sees Jews as a race apart from the rest of society given an academic perch -- especially one at a publicly supported institution? Tell the University President Lois DeFleur what you think by emailing her at ldefleur@binghamton.edu.

To add insult to injury, one of his panel members has accused Israeli archaeologists of distorting the historical record to defend the Jewish State. Her polemic was published as Facts On The Ground.

The top gentile in the land does criticize Israel, far more than he does
the Muslim community. So much so that the U.S.A. has started wondering who they have for a President! A Muslim who bows to a Muslim King or a self acclaimed Christian who questions the veracity of the Bible.

Race is a genetic distinction, and refers to people with shared ancestry and shared genetic traits. You cannot change your race; it's in your DNA. I can never become black or Asian, but by conversion I can become a Jewess. Many Jews worldwide share common ancestry, as shown by genetic research: Read more: Jewish Genealogy:

People of many different races have become Jewish over the centuries, living according to the set of rules of "Judah-ism," that is, the religion of the Yehudim. And Jews come from countries all over the world. Israel, a country populated by people from some 120 countries, is a multi-lingual country. As it is written Ezekiel 38:12, "...the people that are gathered out of the nations,.. that dwell in the middle of the earth." Ezekiel 39:27 "...I have brought them back from the peoples, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands,..."

Hebrew, is the language of the Bible, and Hebrew and Arabic are the official languages of the State of Israel. Many Israelis are speaking English, Russian, Chinese, French, Spanish, Yiddish, Romanian, Polish and Ladino and tens of other tongues.

The original name for the people we now call Jews was Hebrews;
"Ivri." ”Abram the Hebrew (HaIvri), he was the first Jew (Gen. 14:13). The word "ivri" comes from the word "eyver," which literally means "from the other side," and geographically Abraham came from the other side of the river, probably a reference to the Jordan since he came from Mesopotamia (Iraq) to Canaan (Israel) on the other side.

As it is written in the Book of Joshua 24:2-3 'Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: Your fathers dwelt of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor; and they served other gods. And I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan,..” Spiritually and morally, the entire world was on one side, while Abraham was on the other.

Ali Mazrui is my "neighbor" down the street on the corner of Murray Hill and Mercer. He's an an anti-Semite but he doesn't understand it that way. He seems to be the darling of African scholars because someone has to be and a relative few understand it. He claims to respect Jews but doesn't, by his own admission, have a clue about Jewish history.

I was at a lecture of his last year when a somewhat leftist Peace Now Professor & Israel critic, Jonathan Karp, apologizing for being the only one to represent the Israeli side of the debate, took Mazrui apart for all his ignorant bias. It was nice to witness it.

I think Mazrui is a symbol for BU to be seen as Afro-centric, but he's a big waste of money and an example of academia's stupidity.

We see that Daniel Pipes just criticized Mazrui again. He's been pointed out by ADL in their cataloged for over 20 years. Funny thing is that B'nai Brith gave former SUNY Binghamton President Clark Clifford, who hired Mazrui, an award at a reception here over 20 years ago. I picked up the ADL brochure and showed President Clark the bio they had on Mazrui's anti-Semitism and the ADL folks rushed over and changed the subject. The event was a fundraiser of B'nai Brith, you see.

When Mazrui was hired there was a loud cry of outrage form the Jewish community. What we find so egregious is standard bill of fair for him. For a Muslim and a "scholar" who says he knows little about Jewish or Arab history, he almost never leaves out his anti-Semitic diatribe.

What can be done about him? Our President Lois DeFleur Just resigned/retired in a controversy over Division One Basketball and they're busy selecting a new President. Can we influence the next President? Probably not. Besides the next president may be Afro-centric and unwilling do anything about it even if philo-semetic.

I am appalled that this Muslim can criticize anyone. This is America and unforunately everyone can slander Americans and it's okay...but Americans have to watch how they criticize, they have to be politically correct, unless they are black, brown, asian, muslim, hindu, buddist and all the other ones. I believe that Israel is an extension of America, I only wish that we were more like her. We wouldn't have the problems that we have now. Israel is still free, America has her hands tied by the Muslim President. I only wish that Americans would understand about Muslim laws. What the Quoran really says. That it is not love and peace but hate and death.

SUNY Binghamton has always prided itself on an education standard that welcomes expression of diverse opinions and open debate. However, there is a limit to this standard and Ali Mazrui has stepped over the bounds of what is proper and what is "educational".

As such, it is a reflection on the current administration when it continues to allow SUNY to be used as a platform, not for debate nor for educational reasons, but for rabble-rousing. The type of rhetoric being spewed out by this person fits the mold of hatred eschewed by too many Muslims from and in the Middle East. This hatred is not exclusively against Jews but against any non-believer (of Islam), be they Jew or Christian or Hindu, or whatever. It is about time our educational system takes note of this attack on the very principles on which this nation and our school system were established.

As is obvious from the outpouring of comments that SUNY is making a huge mistake in retaining a person not fit for an educational position in any American (or Western World) academic environment. We all call on the SUNY Administration to immediately deprive Mazrui of any position of "education" (if that is what SUNY calls it) and release him into the wild. To do otherwise is to insult past and present graduates of the SUNY system.

As a parent who attended commencement at BU a couple of weeks ago, I am offended that my daughters tuition funds are being spent on retaining a person like Mazrui on the BU staff. President Defleur should take note that keeping him on staff is an insult to me and prehaps grad school funds could be better spent elswhere than paying for an anti-semitic "educator".

This guy is a total idiot!!
