Obama Joins Israel's Critics One More Time
On the day that Vice President Biden gave some support to Israel's boarding of the Ship of Terror, President Obama slapped Israel's blockade of Gaza. The Biden-Obama team seem to be playing good cop/bad cop.

While acknowledging that Israel has the right to provide for its security, President Obama added that the Israeli blockade"is preventing people from pursuing economic opportunities."

At a time when the world is using Israel as a punching bag, one would hope the United states of America would be squarely on Israel's side, if for no other reason than Israel is in the right when it comes to the flotilla and the blockade. The President could have mentioned that the blockade is not just an Israeli project but a joint project with Egypt. (It seems like the whole world has amnesia when it comes to remembering that Arab Egypt feels that blockading Gaza is a good idea. That Jewish Israel is not alone in this enterprise.)

President Obama could also have mentioned that since the blockade Israeli civilians have not experienced rockets being launched from Gaza:That Israel's security is directly tied to the blockade. Mr. President, if Israel has a right and a duty to secure its citizenry then you should be defending Israel and Egypt's blockade of Gaza instead of taking swipes at Israel.

And instead of taking the line of Israel's enemies the President could have helped clarify the underhanded role Turkey has and continues to play in this drama. In a bid to become the biggest Muslim voice in the Middle East, Turkey in the past few weeks has given Iran cover on the nuclear issue, supported terrorist elements in the flotilla, and is threatening to give other flotilla ships battleship escorts. America's silence as Turkey accelerates its support of Israel's enemies needs to be acknowledged by the United States and the free world. Turkey is no longer the allies of the United States or Israel and we should stop pretending that it is.

Caroline Glick's Ending Israel's Losing Steak is well worth reading.
