Washington's Campaign Against Israel Spreads
If you still need convincing that there is a dramatic shift against Israel taking place in Washington, Sunday's New York Times should put to rest any doubts. It is well documented that the Times is a voice of the Obama Administration.  So for people who support Israel an column titled,

Washington Asks: What to Do About Israel?

Should be taken very seriously. The article is top loaded with the supposedly new critical view of Israel. (Israel has always had its critics in Israel.) What is most disturbing and important is that the new attack on Israel is based on spurious claim that Israel's actions are endangering the United States of America. This line of attack is the most dangerous because it seeks to divide the interests of the United States of America and the State of Israel.

We have seen attacks on Israel from the likes of Brzezinski and Carter but now a new set critics are being unearthed. Described as a centrist, Anthony Cordesman is the latest critic:

"The depth of America's moral commitment does not justify or excuse actions by an Israeli government that unnecessarily make Israel a strategic liability when it should remain an asset," Mr. Cordesman wrote, in commentary for the centrist Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he is the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in strategy. "It is time Israel realized that it has obligations to the United States, as well as the United States to Israel, and that it become far more careful about the extent to which it tests the limits of U.S. patience and exploits the support of American Jews."

This bare knuckle attack must be taken seriously because it is being highlighted by the mouthpiece of the administration: The New York Times.  The column also plays up criticisms (that have been denied) by General Petraeus and President Obama's recent statement: "But the status quo is unsustainable," he said in an interview Friday. "If you don't achieve progress in a just and lasting Mideast peace, the extremists are given a stick to beat us with."

About ten percent of this column is given to supporters of Israel. In this case, Liz Cheney and Congressman Israel.

But ninety percent of this indictment is given over to prosecution which includes J Street and the New American Foundation. Make no mistake, the critics portrayed here are not moderates.  The "support Israel" by advocating the disarming of the Jewish State and support policies that would emasculate it.

The question for Israel's supporters Is are we going to stand and fight against this onslaught?
