Liberal Opposition to the 9-11 Mosque
We are usually on the opposite side of the Anti-Defamation League's position on most issues. But the other day we were pleasantly surprised by the
ADL's opposition to the proposed 9-11 Mosque. The ADL shows that you can be in favor of religious freedom and have serious questions about this project. Although the New York Times, which supports the Mosque, has a report that is worth noting. They have bought into the change in language being promoted by the Mosque's sponsors. Note the use of the term "Muslim
center." They are using this language because they feel it is less frightening.
The Times notes that a congressional candidate in North Carolina is using opposition to the Mosque as a campaign issue and so is New York Congressional candidate
Randy Altschuler.
Claudia Rossett, writing in
Forbes Magazine, adds to the reasons why the sponsors of the Mosque should be required to answer several important questions before they can proceed with this project. Claudia tells her tale of trying to interview the Imam who parades around as a man of peace. She finds him illusive and her brief encounter with him is illuminating. She also has a
brief rundown of others who are making the case against the Mosque.
