Michael Bloomberg vs Sara Palin
Since One Jerusalem got involved in the campaign to Stop The 9-11 Mosque, opposition continues to grow to the proposal.
Moderate Muslims, Newt Gingrich, Sara Palin, and Rick Lazio have all stated their reasons why this project should not be approved. Palin's opposition was the least antagonistic. She said that the Mosque would stab at the hearts of many Americans. Lazio emphasizes possible security concerns. While Gingrich wants to see permission granted for churches to be built in Saudi Arabia.
But Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York, has positioned himself as the lead defender of the Mosque. He expressed his strong support while differing with Palin's opposition. Bloomberg links his support to being a defender of American values of freedom of religion: In other words opponents of the Mosque oppose Freedom of Religion.
There is no evidence that Bloomberg is a supporter of radical Islam but like so many other "open minded" people Bloomberg is quick to jump to incorrect conclusions when politically correct issues are in play. Bloomberg's defense of the mosque shows a profound ignorance of the reality of the situation. For Bloomberg the mosque is like a synagogue or a church -- a place of worship.
He could not be more mistaken. Bloomberg clearly does not know that after Khomeini's revolution in Iran, the Saudis committed billions to building mosques around the world. The central component of this construction campaign was to spread the Saudi brand of Islamic fundamentalism far and wide. Saudi financed mosques sprouted in Central and Western Europe, and along with the mosques (paid for by radical Islamists in the Gulf) came radical religious leaders (Imams) whose job is to educate their folk with the hate-filled, anti-Western teachings of their radical religious ideas.
Throughout Europe, the mosque has become the primary engine for radicalization. The young men who carried out suicide missions in England were all recruited and trained in these mosques. The young Muslims who tortured and murdered a young French Jew were also products of this radicalization.
We must understand that in their minds the political and the religious are intertwined. Those who are behind this mosque program, which includes the 9-11 Mosque, are part of a dangerous religious movement that is directly at odds with American/Western values. As they have in the past, they will continue to train and recruit radicals (often killers) who are prepared to die for Allah.
Opposing the 9-11 Mosque is not an assault on religious freedom in the United States it is the responsible thing to do. If this Mosque is part of the documented international campaign to force the acceptance of radical Islam then it is our duty to stop it .As it is our responsibility to oppose deadly and immoral ideas coming from the mouths of so-called Christians, Jews, Hindus, etc.
Would Bloomberg support the construction of a whites only Church in Harlem? I don't think so and I hope not.
He should apply the same critical thinking that would oppose such a church to the 9-11 Mosque.
