Why not also reach out specifically to Italians and praise the positive achievements of Rome? Then there are the Greeks and their contributions, the Chinese and their wondrous inventions, the Hindus and all the magnificent advances in math and science. Perhaps Obama can remind Muslims how our space program moved many of them to cheer and celebrate in 2003, when the space shuttle Columbia, carrying Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon, disintegrated on re-entry, killing all aboard.

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten him out, Vice-President, Joe Biden, intervened with a request that…. before any “cattle” guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining.

If Mr. Obama is so confident about the Muslim world technological advances he should order the USA Air Force to provide him with an Air force One plane designed and built by Muslims (are there any?). The president of Iran bought an Israeli designed and built in China armored pasenger car for his use from an Israeli manufacturer.
They could check who manufactured the blades, among other parts, in the turbines of the jet engines (Pratt & Whitney in Isarel). I do not believe there are any jet engine parts manufactured by Muslims.

Since victors can rewrite history any way they please, this should tell the American public what OBama thinks of himself and His people, where he is headed, and Why.

I really don't know why we have a person who was not born in America as the president. If he were smart he would close his mouth and never talk again. He is a Muslim and that is why is trying get the muslim close to America. He doesn't like this country he hates this country. Nowhere does the NASA head say he was instructed to emphasize Muslim contributions to the space program. Clearly there are NO immediate contributions of any value. Muslims have been behind in the scientific world for the last 300+ years.

However, when Christian Europe descended into its Dark Ages, for several hundred years, scientific progress came from only one area of the world, the Muslim area. It is also where the most Jewish philosophical progress was made (RaMBaM !!!)

Today, Muslim religious leaders have basically given up on the idea that they could ever catch up and have their people compete in a global economy.
What's left? Why, to fight against all Western values and get your followers to desire only Heaven after life and nothing in this life.

Reminding Muslims that at one time (albeit a LONG, LONG time ago), they were on top of the scientific world is a GOOD thing.

Getting them to actually BELIEVE it, and believe that one day they could again contribute to the world's scientific progress, is a very difficult task.

It causes me to consider that he may still be a secret muslim. The church he was in for 20 years here, preached a black dominion theology that is anything but christian, and with the endorsing of NASA to open the door to muslims to make them feel better about themselves at a time that radical islamic thinking in the states and elsewhere is growing and with a muslim university professer being appaled at what is being taught in the mosques throughout the united states cause me to carefully consider what exactly he is. I think that is still undetermined.
