We have written about religious leaders who seem blind to the realities of the world. An Anglican priest, a convert from Islam, once told me that the people who understood his warnings about the rise of radical Islam were religious Christians and religious Jews. "They know there is evil in this world that must be confronted by good - God fearing people.
This conversation came to mind when I saw a bulletin of the Church of SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. The bulletin asks for prayers for "our country, for our America."
"Why? Because today she is surrounded by enemies who want to destroy her. Not only Iran, Iraq and other Arab Muslim countries, but by China and Russia who directly or indirectly, openly or clandestinely help these Islam countries."
It would be good, if churches and synagogues took a cue from Msgr. Stephen Hrynuck and educated their parishioners in this manner.
Yes, so often we miss the big picture and forget that there are evil forces much greater than the militant groups running around terrorizing the world. People need to wake up to the fact that China and Russia aid these operations and they are quietly moving their agenda ahead with ramifications that are greater than we could possibly imagine.

As an ex-Marine, I truly appreciated your video on the IDF's night raid in Lebanon. However, I would take with a grain of salt (or the entire salt shaker) anything regarding the Near East from Greek (Eastern European) Catholic sources as in your other article. They are often anti-Semitic (anti Jewish as well as anti Muslim my friend). It is the radical fanatics we need to focus on and those that make profit from war.

You're not kidding! It was just this week that Mom and I were lamenting the very same thing! That we wish more churches and synagogues would educate their congregations about the rising threat of Islam to our nations!
Unfortunately there are various excuses as to why this is not being done. Among them here in Canada, is the fact that if a church appears to be taking part in political tendancies, they can risk losing their tax-free status. So any statements that even remotely refer to potentially political stuff, gets glossed over with vagueries so quickly that most listening miss the impact and seriousness of the situation. Worse than that excuse, is the one we hear from Christians in our own local congregation, "Don't bother me with the news, I don't want to focus on such negativity! Let me be!" Sadly, this sentiment is repeated various ways by too many Christians we've run across off and online.
However at the same time, Christians are also asking what today's news has to do with end-time prophecy in the Scriptures. To that end Mom wrote a book called "The Final Schedule Revealed: In the Final Feasts and Festivals" an intro to which can be found at http://teshuvatrumpet.org In addition, I began a "Scripture in the News" forum over at http://newhope.tribforcehq.com to show what God has to say about current events in Scripture. It's amazing what God is saying about things right now. Most of the Scriptures I am using are coming out of the Tanach or Old Testament prophetic books. Some of those passages now read as if God were watching today's news Himself and adding commentary!
Then the worst excuse of them all, comes from those who somehow honestly and sincerely believe that Israel has no role to play in these last days and that the curse God put on Israel in the Old Testament was not lifted, and that God didn't outline a far-reaching plan for Israel that would impact ALL nations! These people figure the problems in the Middle East are Israel's fault and sadly, one my aunts is in that group. After I learned of one comment she made, I am almost ashamed to call her a relative!
The Russian-backed threat of global Islamism is going to touch every single one of these excuse-giving groups whether they wake up and realize it or not!
The problem is, so few are listening to those of us who are sounding the alarm. Mom asked the other day, why should we, or should we be at all, trying to wake up the Christian Church to the plight of those who brought us Messiah in the first place? I returned the question telling her that I sometimes feel like Jeremiah the prophet, who basically said "But G-d! They won't listen to me!" and G-d told him to keep prophecying anyway! This burden for the nation of Israel and the role she plays on the world stage, this alarm at the great sword that is coming on the earth(islamic sword that is), must compell us to continue speaking out, even if it seems no one hears us!
There are many more Christians who support Israel than most Israelis are aware of. Mom and I are two.
