One Jerusalem had the privilege of hosting a bloggers conference call with John O'Sullivan author of the important new book:
The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister - Three Who Changed the World.
Aome of the bloggers on the call were: Ralph Kostant from
The Hedgehog Blog, Jim Hoft from
Gateway Pundit, Rick Richman from
Jewish Current Issues, and Avi Green from
Tel Chai Nation.
Mr. O'Sullivan is one of the leading public affairs analysts of our day. Along with serving Prime Minister Thatcher, he has been an important influence on the American Conservative movement as editor of National Review and the Public Interest.
Mr. O'Sullivan recounts the hurdles overcome by President Reagan, Pope John Paul II, and Prime Minister Thatcher in their quest to topple the Soviet Empire. O'Sullivan presents a compelling answer to the question what would this trio have done to deal with the Muslim threat. O'Sullivan tells how near the end of his life the Pope was hugely disappointed in the lack of substantive response by Muslims to his attempts to build bridges to the Islamic world.
In answer to Rick Richman's question about what should our current leaders learn from these predecessors, O'Sullivan delves into the need to clearly express your principled position. That words of appeasement strengthen the enemy while words of clarity -"The Evil Empire"- strengthen domestic opponents of tyranny.
