I have an even better idea....move ALL muslims out of Israel. They have NO INTENTION of ever even acknowledging that Israel even has a right to exist. This Fifth Column is a true enemy within. Imagine how much more peace and space we could have with NO muslims in Israel. There are 22 muslim nations in the area. LOTS of room for the muslims in THOSE nations. Goodbye muslims!!! Hello peace and happiness.

This is what you get for a large political contribution. You become an ambassoador. Someday the US will begin picking people with intelligence and language skills to be ambassoradors.

What an antisemitic ignorant Arab loving idiot this Jones is.

Ambassador Jones said that Israel must go ahead with the implementation of the commitments made made as part of the Road Map peace process "even if unreciprocated by the Palestinians." What kind of nonsense is this? What commitments have the Palestinians ever lived up to? There is no peace process -- Israel MUST stand up for its existence. It is the Palestinians who must give up their terrorist ways and embrace peace. They must show the World that they can live in peace. The World must stop catering to the Palestinians. The double standard must end; Israel should be encouraged to protect itself against its civilians being bombarded with rockets.

I don't who disgusts me more, this ambassador, or his boss. Jerusalem is synonymous with King David. A "Christian" president SHOULD know that his savior was NOT born in the West Bank, he didn't walk the streets of the Palestinian Authority, and he DIDN'T worship at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. WHAT GAUL! Israel should demand his recall.

Sure, the Jews can always move out. Jews have moved out of Judea in 135, out of England in 1290, out of France in 1306, out of Spain in 1492. What's the big deal? Of course, Arabs can never move out. That's ethnic cleansing. This is just like Lord Bevin's phrase "Jews are once again getting ahead of everyone in line."

the audacity to suggest that a people who are trying to live in peace with nelghbors who openly espouse their destruction should be forced to cede any of the holy city of Jerusalem is beyond the pale! the Bush administration seems to have no backbone left!!!

You can NOT have peace unless both sides are in complete agreement. If one sides chooses to violate agreements with impunitythat side does not deserve anything.

Is it possible that the Americans are so uncomprehending of the importance of Jerusalem for us and that they are so blind in their attitudes? Ambassador Jones' comments are totally astounding, unwarranted and ... and yes, even stupid.

Ambassador Jones believes that Israel is not an independent State, but merely a pawn for American interests. The Road Plan required both sides to act in the first stage together: Israel to stop building in the West Bank and the Palestinians to cease attacking Israel. The Ambassador's statement reflects a biased opinion. since he justifies Arab hostility amd violence against Israel. Has he forgotten the 60 years in which Aafat and Abbas have talked of peace to the West, but of jihad to the Arabs. The Road Map presented by the Arab nations is a road to the destruction of Israel. I have always believed that Ambassadors are supposed to know the sentimentsof the people in the area in which they are stationed. Where has Ambassador Jones been living? Has he ever visited Sderot? Has he seen the psychological warfare now waged by the Palestinians against the Israelis? The Arabs have learned well the tactics of their former Axis allies in World War II. V 2 rockets fired daily into London, and suicide attacks by Japanese Kamikase pilots. Before an Ambassador makes statements that ignore the history of the conflict, he must endeavor to know both sides views.

The settlement of Jews in the historically acknowledged City of David, the capital city of the Jewish people since time immemorial, occupied by many by foreign invaders but restored to the Jews followng the efforts to destroy the Jewish people during the Nazi Holocaust is wholly appropriate. The non Jewish population of Jerusalem MUST be permitted to remain in their homes and there is no reason why more non Jews should be able to settle in the Holy City. The Chriitians and Moslems living there have no historic rights to change the status of the city - the moslems in the Edgware Road, the Indians in Birmingham etc have never demanded that London should become part of another country. The Moslems living in the City consider the Temple Mount ( the area occupied by the Jewish Temple which after being destroyed by foreign invaders became a Moslem shrine, a holy place - just like Mecca and other places. Of course they must have free access to this as should the Jews to their Holy Shrines in Hebron etc . Jews should be permitted to live near their holy shrines as should Moslems but the Jews should not have sovereignty over Hebron - this is part of the acknowledged Palestinian land. If the Moslems living in Jerusalem like the idea of giving up Israeli status and decide to live in Jerusalem as 'Palestinian' subjects - that would be up to them and the Jews in Hebron would have the same right. But they would still have to abide by the laws of the land in which they dwell. If the Moslems and Christians want Jerusalem or parts of it to be separated from the Jewish State and part of another State, they should be permitted to move out of a stretch of East Jerusalem to emphasise a viable border and build a new city centre to the East on acknowledged Palestinian land but with full access to the Holy Places via the border which I assume that they would like to make with Israel. The alternative is of course that the City should remain undivided - as now- with Arabs Moslems and Jews having equal civil rights and continuing access to the Holy Places with the city remaining the Capital of Israel and with continuing rights to build new homes for the expanding population. Once the Palestinians sit down to make a proper peace they will be free to build and do anything else legitimare on the land they negotiate to be their's. This will be a wonderful opportunity for a people who have never historically had any claim to an area of land in their own name unlike the Jews.

With friends like this, who needs enemies? Is this man unaware of the historical and religious connection that the Jews have with Jerusalem. The Muslims made Jerusalem their third holy city only recently. There is no reference to it in their Koran. This American needs to learn some history!

Dear Ambassador, Israel is a land with a solid heartbeat within. Surely you would not wish to allow it to become a place where that heartbeat will be removed by those who have no desire to see it continue beating. Imagine the same scenario taking plce in Washington DC, do you honestly believe the citizens and Government of the United States would act any differently!

Hmm... American Ambassador advocates for Arabs and tells Jews what they can or can not do at THEIR home... On who’s payroll Jones is? On who’s payroll his bosses are? They who play dirty politics, they are crooks. They who have eyes and minds, let them see and understand… There must be MORAL understanding and MORALLY JUST solution; ask God about it! Quoting Mr. Jones: "sometimes people do have to move to a different location. They cannot always stay close to their families." Again, betrayal and double standards of false friends. Why not to apply this to Arabs and to invite THEM "to move to different location"? They have waste of Muslim lands all over the globe… We’ve seen pictures - Palestinian infants, like their hateful parents, wear suicide bombers suites, wield real machine guns and get ready to kill every Jew they can. Israel was forced to build huge walls to protect its people from their deadly enemy; is this what you call “provocative behavior” of Israel, Mr. Jones? To say such things, one must be very sympathetic with murderers who are unhappy because they are unable to kill enough innocent people.

Ambassador Jones should be replaced! He is an embarrassment to the people of the United States. Nothing is more important than the restoration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and keeping Jerusalem whole!

Posted by: Catherine Ray at March 21, 2008 8:36 PM

Ambassador Jones is in error for his comments. The U.S. is not in a position to dictate policy to Israel. The U.S. can make recommendations but should concentrate in supporting Israel as an alley and as the first line of defense against terrorism especially against Islam. Shalom, Dan

Is Richard Jones out of his mind? Having some of them move away from Jerusalem and their families would be like asking them to stop breathing! And they should do this why? So this "peace plan" can work better? All it will do is open the gate to the Palestinians taking over the Jewish birthright of the Land! I say, No way!

Posted by: Marilyn at March 21, 2008 5:45 PM

Until the Palestinians stop teaching Jew hatred and killing Jews, Until they act peacefully and show that they can create a functioning society in Gaza, Mr. Richardson should be ignored. Also, he needs to be educated about Jerusalem.

Is this a thoughtful friend who knows the full history since King David or a cosmetician?

Posted by: Sam at March 21, 2008 4:54 PM

Tell the Ambassador that Jerusalem is sacred to Jews worldwide, and that it is up to Israel who lives there. It is Jewish; not Arab, not Palestinian -- Jewish. It is none of his business. Sometimes it's embarrassing to be American, with our government so ignorant of the situation in Israel and the problems there.

I am appalled that this individual would make a comment of this sort.I have been following the comments emenating from within the U.S. State Dept. I am not thrilled with them and will call the White House to express my feelings on them.

WHO does "our" (me a US citizen) ambassador think he is? The US has NO right to tell another country how to populate its cities. HE SHOULD BE FIRED!

Shame on Ambassador Jones for displaying such abysmal ignorance about the historical background of Jerusalem and of Israel as a whole. And worse, how dare he intimate that Israel's behavior is provocative in its careful and sensitive response to the savage Palestinian massacres. There is NO equivalence: the Palestinians have announced loud and clear that they are out to exterminate the Jews at a time when the latter are barely defending themselves. Where is the noted "American Friendship"?

Posted by: Lily Brull at March 21, 2008 3:37 PM

I am appalled at Ambassador Jone's comments and embarrassed on behalf of the United States to have someone like him representing us in Israel. The attacks on Israel are unprovoked and any retaliation is morally and politically the right thing to do. A nations primary responsibility is to protect its citizens from enemy attack. To try and state this as an equally provoked conflict especially from a key diplomat who clearly knows the facts is political manuvering that justifies the terrorist attacks on innocent people and aligns with those who represent all that we as a nation appose in our own country and throughout the Middle East, even to the degree of shedding our own military life blood to appose. Yet, he has the nerve to suggest that this is an equal confrontation putting Israel on the same level with terrorist sending missles to kill innocent people? God have mercy on him and us.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Richard Jones, exhibits the typical State Department bias toward Israel, and the Jewish people in general. This bias dates back to the days when Dulles was Secretary of State. The arabs are not our peace partners and never will be. We will not be sold -out by this modern day Chamberlain who,in the "Munich Pact " of 9/29/38 with "Herr Hitler"sold out Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland.

This attitude is reversed...all "palistinians" must get out of Jerusalem... they have NO historical right to any part of the city.

U.S. Ambassador Jones is speaking more like an Arab Ambassador to the Palestinians. I am dismayed that he is representing the U.S.!!

I don´t understand why Mr. Ambassador can tell the jews where to live in their own country and especially in their own capital. We don´t tell the americans in what part of your capital who can live and who can´t. Jerusalem is the undivided capital of the jewish people.

Revealing the State Department's agenda and why it should be frozen out of international dialog. Fortunately both political and private citizens of the US have a clearer perspective of the rights and wrongs of the situation than has Condi.

We honored commitments and moved the settlers out of Gush Katif and now the southern border is "alive" with terrorists. The people of Sderot and surrounding area are in the throes of a holocaust. Does anybody care? A Palestinian terrorist state is upon us!

Would Ambassador Jones also suggest that we move some Americans out of California and make room for more illegal Mexicans and while we are setting the records straight, let's move some Americans from Manhattan to make room for indian cassinos. Let's not forget to move Arabs from Medina whose Jewish population was slaughtered by the millitary prophet Muhammad himself and then converted the Jewish colony into an " Arab only" city. This would be a good time for Mr. Jones to resign because he does not represent the sentiments of most Americans with regard to Jerusalem. Anda M. Rosen, an American patriot.

Jones is an IDIOT. Jerusalem belongs to the Jews,PERIOD. ThIs is GOD'S HOLY CITY intrusted to the Nation of Israel, not the god of the Palestinians.

What kind of fool did Bush send Israel. I have stated many times Bush and his administration have strangled Israel and continue to do so an idiot like Olmert continues to listen. When will Israel stand up to the US and tell them they can't run their own country and they cannot run Israel.

This ambassador to Israel is a total moron. He should be the ambassador to Antarctica. The Road Map plan is not peace it is the road to HELL for Israel. The US moved its' Indians all around the country. Why should Israel not move its' Indians (arabs) to some other place? Or did the ambassador forget that. His tongue was not attached to his small brain when he makes statements like he did.

Quite frankly, from a U.S. and Israeli citizen, the Ambassador and his family need to move out of Israel. This would definately reduce his over-population problem, and some of Israel's pollution. And, while the "ambassador", or Saudi pimp, is moving everybody around, he might just move all the non-Hispanics out of the over-crowded California and the rest of Southwest of the U.S. to make room for a larger Mexico, perhaps even a more comfortable Palestinian state.

I am not surprised by this it is just the continuation of the lack of understanding the US has shown for the failure of the so called "PEACE PROCESS." It is time to tell the US and the World to take a look at their own behavior and let Israel do what is right for itself. If the Arab residents on the biblical land want to create their own State let them go to Syria which is what they promissed to do for many years should they reconquer Israel. I am so tired of the backstabing US trying to dictate policy in Israel.

The Dynamic Creativity that characterizes modern Israel can no longer wait for the healthy maturation of the surrounding peoples. Israel is bogged down trying to educate, defeat, or destroy hostile ignorant and primitive neighbors. This is a dead end path leading into a vortex of self destruction. This behavior must be stopped. Let us Go in and Settle The Land with even more passion and spirit than our fore fathers. Let us fight for the right to be The Creative Power that Israel is. This is the correct path of Peace. Let us reclaim all of Jerusalem. Let us Build...Create.....Invent......grow. The Spirit of Life demands it.

Right. And all of us living in Texas, California, New Mexico, and Arizona should just move to some other state because Mexican immigrants might be displeased if we don't. Got it. Thanks, Mr. Jones, for clearing all that up for us.

How utterly ridiculous! The US ambassador does not have any right to tell Jews where to live in Israel, especially in Jerusalem! Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. How would this ambassdor like the Russian leadership to tell him where Americans should live outside of Washington, DC? The Palestinians do not have any claim to any part of Jerusalem. Indeed, Israeli as well as American leadership's speaking with this Palestinian leadership is a total waste of time and money. Peace will never come about with this present Palestinian leadership who does not recognize the Jewish State of Israel.

  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, to ensure free and open access for all people.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, as an expression of the unique relationship between the Jewish People and its eternal capital.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, so as never to return to the dark period of 1947-67, when Arab control over an artificially divided Jerusalem meant religious persecution, desecration of holy sites, and wanton destruction.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, according to the current municipal boundaries, set in the wake of Israel’s defensive 1967 Six Day War.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, where Jews may enjoy the right to pray on the Temple Mount, the holiest site in the Jewish world.
Preserve The Temple Mount
  • For a decade, Muslim religious authorities have participated in the destruction and elimination of precious Jewish and Christian artifacts on the site of Solomon's Temple, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
  • Thousands of tons of earth, containing archaeological evidence dating back to the period of the Temple of Solomon, were discarded. Among the 'rubble' were ancient seals from a Priestly family, inscribed pottery fragments in Ancient Hebrew, Altar screens and broken columns from a fourth century Byzantine Church.
  • Since the year 2000, the Muslim religious authority – the Waqf - has blocked all archaeological oversight of the Temple Mount.
  • Meanwhile, the Waqf continues to construct Mosques on the sacred sites of Jews and Christians.
  • We believe the international and Israeli media should have unrestricted access to the Temple Mount.
  • We believe the world-respected Israeli Antiquities Authority be empowered to supervise the day to day activities on the Temple Mount.
  • Currently, the Waqf forbids any non-Muslim entrance, except on a selective and very limited basis. For instance, the Waqf does not give any observers access inside the vast subterranean rooms, from which many antiquities have been removed.
  • We demand the preservation and respect of the Temple Mount. Only full access and complete transparency for all parts of the Temple Mount can prevent further abuse and destruction of this site which has been venerated throughout history.
