Everyone in Islam claims right to a land by hailing back to the last battle/conquest. Well, Jewish right to Jerusalem transcends to a time to where the peoples who occupied the surrounding lands no longer exist (especially as a culture or race). There is seldom a more clear or cleaner case for possession. If the islamic peoples are truly concerned for the Palestinian's and peace why don't they offer them some of the vast lands that they possess instead of trying to drive Israel off its tiny possession? That'll be the day, eh?

Unfortunately, people stilll believe in medieval accusations against Jews. They base their opinion on Israel on hate sites such as http://www.jewwatch.com/ In the meantime, how about defending Israel for a change? Because of all this and the above comments (al kol ele) we can´t give up on Jerusalem. This will (G-d forbid) only encourage Arab hate and missiles

Giving back what was won in a war has not proven to be the right choice. Then again, if we have been battling the same people for so many years, what makes us think that the hate built for so many years will disipate...?

Praise God for Yoel Nitzarim and others like him. I am a gentile Christian but have a Jewish heart. All my spiritual heroes were Jews - Moses, Joshua, Caleb (also my middle name), Joseph, David, Hezekiah, Josiah, Elijah, Elisha, Ezekiel, to name just a few. And the focus was always what was going on in Jerusalem. Jerusalem belongs to the Jews. God promised the land of Palestine, not the Arabs, and Jerusalem is the heart of it all. Keep Jerusalem one and under the control of the Jews!

I knew a lot of comrades in arms who gave their lives for Jerushalaim. I would very much like to see it united.

Jerusalem belongs to Israel. People of Israel do not let Olmert give up Jerusalem. The Muslims will never be peaceful with the Israelites. I am an American and I urge my country to stand with Israel. I implore Bush to not ask Olmert to give one precious piece of Jerusalem to any other peoples. HaShem bless Israel and bring peace to Jerusalem!

Why didn't the press cover the story? "Yerushalayim shel Zahav " metaphorically tells the story of Jerusalem. That's the way Jerusalem should be thought of--an ascension, a light unto the nations, an illumination of the Divine Power. There is not any doubt that the majority of Israelis living in Israel and the Jews living in the Diaspora who love and care about Israel want Yerushalaim to remain one, undivided, indivisible. The Olmert government does not represent the minority of the Jewish people living in the world today: it represents the very few sorry apologists who are ashamed of being Jewish and would gladly turn their backs on Jewish heritage, spirtuality, and security. Jerusalem symbolizes Jewish identity; Jerusalem speaks for the prophets. Jerusalem, along with Israel, is HaShem's gift to Abraham and his descendants through Yitzchak and Yaakov. Jerusalem is the place where Israel solidified as a Jewish nation at the time of David. Those Jews living today represent the Jews of old, and what place better stands alive and well for more than 3000 years as the sign of Jewish well-being: Yerushalayim shel Zahav!

United Jerusalem Petition
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, to ensure free and open access for all people.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, as an expression of the unique relationship between the Jewish People and its eternal capital.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, so as never to return to the dark period of 1947-67, when Arab control over an artificially divided Jerusalem meant religious persecution, desecration of holy sites, and wanton destruction.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, according to the current municipal boundaries, set in the wake of Israel’s defensive 1967 Six Day War.
  • I support a unified Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, where Jews may enjoy the right to pray on the Temple Mount, the holiest site in the Jewish world.
Preserve The Temple Mount
  • For a decade, Muslim religious authorities have participated in the destruction and elimination of precious Jewish and Christian artifacts on the site of Solomon's Temple, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
  • Thousands of tons of earth, containing archaeological evidence dating back to the period of the Temple of Solomon, were discarded. Among the 'rubble' were ancient seals from a Priestly family, inscribed pottery fragments in Ancient Hebrew, Altar screens and broken columns from a fourth century Byzantine Church.
  • Since the year 2000, the Muslim religious authority – the Waqf - has blocked all archaeological oversight of the Temple Mount.
  • Meanwhile, the Waqf continues to construct Mosques on the sacred sites of Jews and Christians.
  • We believe the international and Israeli media should have unrestricted access to the Temple Mount.
  • We believe the world-respected Israeli Antiquities Authority be empowered to supervise the day to day activities on the Temple Mount.
  • Currently, the Waqf forbids any non-Muslim entrance, except on a selective and very limited basis. For instance, the Waqf does not give any observers access inside the vast subterranean rooms, from which many antiquities have been removed.
  • We demand the preservation and respect of the Temple Mount. Only full access and complete transparency for all parts of the Temple Mount can prevent further abuse and destruction of this site which has been venerated throughout history.
