In a provocatively titled column, Bush Plays The Hitler Card Pat Buchanan takes historical revisionism to new heights. In his narrative, the rational political operatives are Adolph Hitler and Neville Chamberlain. The warmongers are George Bush and the Poles who did not appease Hitler.
I give Buchanan credit for criticizing Bush's Knesset speech from a different angle. Obama and Clinton huffed and puffed at what they interpreted as Bush's criticism of them but Buchanan uses this topic to defend Hitler!
Buchanan credits British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain with having the right policy of negotiating with Hitler which, in Buchanan's historical imagination, led to peace. You see Hitler had these legitimate gripes, Buchanan maintains, he just wanted to repatriate German's living in Czechoslovakia and Poland.
Buchanan's take on the causes of World War II leads him to conclude that negotiating with Hamas, Iran, Hezzbolah, and I guess Al Queda is the road to piece and security.
If you visit the Townhall website that has published this Buchanan fantasy you will be encouraged to see that readers have given the lowest rating to Buchanan's piece. Perhaps you would want to grade him as well.
Incredible! I believe the only possible comment to this article is laughter at its complete stupidity, and the two-fold hope that one, no-one takes it seriously, and two, that no-one uses it to justify their political agendas.

Sergio, your analysis smacks with anti-Semitism and hatred for the Jewish people and Israel. As a Jew, it is impossible for me to either accept or respect your perspective both on my religion and my history. I also know that it is impossible to change the mind of an anti-Semite because the anti-Semite's conceptions and ideology are completely irrational. You might want to read Jean-Paul Sartre's essay "Portrait of the anti-Semite," which appeared in the Spring 1946 edition of the Partisan Review. And for those who read this response, I would highly recommend that you read Sartre's essay for a brilliant psychological and moral perspective on the thinking of the "anti-Semite."

Sometimes you have to say things straight at the root of the problem. The root of the problem is that the jews are out of covenant with Hashem. Sorry Yoel if you do not like what I am saying, but even "people of the cloth" like to frame the ETERNAL in human smallish frames - like 'the new covenant overrode the old covenant and the jews are out of favor, they don't count!. That's Buchanan's theology and his politics gyrate with that framework,
So this is what I told the man straight out:
ir,
You are an utter fool.
It is all about the jews, it is always been about the jews.
They stand by a decree of G-d ALONE.
Their leaders only responded to secularist ideologies, that came from the world leader - USA.
The WEST or the EAST never liked the jews, but the WEST can't swallow them because or their recalcitrant theology, while the EAST, specifically the MIDDLE EAST wants them DEAD.
Land for peace ?? give me a break, your people would not do it ever and your people are not G-d's chosen people at best.
So, all your rewritten history piece here is hogwash. For hogs.
G-d will stand with Israel ultimately, and their appointment with their destiny and their MESHIACH will happen, no one in the WEST will avoid Gog-and-Magog Or Armageddon as you prefer to name it.
Even the USA will abandon Israel, whether or not the Illuminati and the powers that influence from behind closed doors had anything to do with Israel's rebirth (so they think= they might as well tell the truth and say - We did not want the two great wars, but .... LOL they happened !)
It is a shame, that you teach an anti-semitic theology.!!!
In my land, they have an anecdote of an Indian Chief that was going to burn at the stakes, he was tied and ready to become a human pyre, a man of the cloth asked him" do you want to confess and pronounce Jesus as your Lord?" he did not reply but rather asked the priest" If those burning me repent, will they go and meet this Lord you are telling me about?, the priest said" yes my son, of course", the chief thought for a moment and replied: "If that is the case, keep your Lord, and my punishers, I DO NOT WANT TO GO THERE !:
SIR, I DO NOT WANT TO GO WHERE YOU THINK YOU WILL GO AFTER YOUR LIFE IS OVER.

I always thought Pat Buchanan was a little off, but now I know he is way off and not a conservative! Absurb about Hilter and Chamberlain! Pat, go back and read the real history books. You are brainwashed and not fit to talk on the subject.

Regarding Mr. Buchanan, what kind of man is this to incline even the most remote good anything about Hitler. Plain and simple fact, the man was wicked. He is deaf and blind. Maybe he is one of those who continue the following of Hitler.

Buchanan did not excuse Hitler or sanction his actions. He does not advocate for appeasement. He uses an accurate historical analysis to frame the question. "What has Bush's refusal to talk to Hamas, Hezbollah, Damascus and Tehran done to make either Israel or America more secure?" That is a valid question.
As a strong supporter of Israel I would not hold out much prospect for any discussion with these enities bearing fruit. That does not mean that we should not try. If peace is our goal we should always leave a well guarded door open to our enemies in the hope that war can be avoided and some issues resolved. Buchanan gives some excellent examples of that happening in his article. While I hold out little hope of success I cannot fault Buchanans logic or motivation.

Mr. Buchanan's mind has been degraded by the left wing network he is working for. I do not consider him a conservative. I would much rather believe in the opinions of George Bush a Christian by profession. We support and love the people of Israel.

in Buchanan's bizarro world, Hitler and Chamberlain should get a join-Nobel, very much like some who in
the acutual world DID receive such a Nobel.
Is the Nobel noble?

I read the Buchanan nonsense very early, EST today and found it disturbingly Buchanan.
It's a shame he considers himself a Conservative as I denounce the NEO-Conservatives as "Born-Again Democrats" but Mr. Buchanan is on Mars with his far reaching "angle."
It's too bad he really believes with his heart everything he, well, believes.

Mr. Buchanan's article is utter nonsense and absurdity. There is no comparison among dictators and other megalomaniacs. Such people are unique unto themselves. Whether they be psychopaths or sociopaths, they are individual lunatics. Trying to appease any such individual is entering into unknown territory where lurid terror lurks in every corner. Israel is a tiny country of only seven million people. One mistake in comprehending the intentions of a maniacal murderer, such as Hassan Nasrallah or Dr Mahmoud al-Zahar, could cost thousands if not hundreds of thousands of Israeli lives. There simply is not any room for political or diplomatic errors by the Israeli negotiators. At any rate, Mr. Buchanan's article is not worth the time it took me to read it.
