It is very easy not to pay attention to a video clip like this one from the comfort of my home in the United States. Nevertheless, the world has become very small, and Israel is in my heart and soul. When there is pain in Israel, I also feel the pain. To see a monster like Samir Kuntar addressing such a huge crowd leaves me speechless. That a child murderer can receive accolades from so many human beings does not surprise me: it sickens me. Today I began my unit on the Holocaust with my English Composition I class. We watched documentary clips from a death camp in Poland. How reminiscent is the display in this clip in Lebanon to the incredulous, silent display my students and I saw today as we watched an SS look through a peephole at the last moments of hundreds in a gas chamber. There is no little degree of repulsion when one observes a murderer. Samir Kuntar is such a vile human being. His inimical presence on earth reminds one of the ever present Amalek, evil incarnate.
