In an exclusive One Jerusalem bloggers call, Congressman Eric Cantor, Chief Deputy Republican Whip, announced the introduction today of his House Resolution 756 which condemns the destruction of Jewish and Christian religious artifacts on the Temple Mount. The Resolution criticizes the actions of the Waqf -- The Muslim Religious Authority. You can be a citizen sponsor of this legislation by signing here. In an interview which covered a lot of topics, Congressman Cantor expressed concern about the summit being proposed by the Bush Administration. Congressman Cantor believes that the time is not ripe for a comprehensive settlement of the outstanding issues between the Palestinians and the Israelis. Congressman Cantor clearly defended Israel's right, as a sovereign democratic country, to determine its own policies -- especially when they concern the security of the State of Israel. The Congressman also agreed with Rick Richman that the time is right for a Congressional investigation into the use of American tax dollars to train Palestinian security forces. Congressman Cantor provided crisp, informative answers to the questions posed. Listen to the Bloggers Conference call here. One Jerusalem proudly brings you an important bloggers interview with one of the world's leading Biblical Archaeologists Dr. Gabriel Barkay and Yigal Caspi of the Committee Against the Destruction of Antiquities on the Temple Mount.
Dr. Barkay succinctly articulates the meaning of the Temple Mount to Jews and Christians as he calls for the world to stop the destruction being carried out by the Waqf.
Listening to Dr. Barkay explain the Jewish and Christian connections to the Temple Mount you further understand why it is vital to stop the destruction of Jewish antiquities on the Temple Mount:
"The Temple Mount is the heart, soul, and spirit of the Jewish people. It is the only holy place that Jews have and it is the place that is identified with the place chosen by the almighty which is mentioned in Deutoronomy. This is the place which is believed to be the place of the binding of Isaac, this is the place where David built the altar on the threshing floor of Aravna the Jebusite to stop the plague, this is the place where the first temple was built and the second followed it built by the returnees to Zion from the Babylonian captivity. This is also the place of the third edifice built on the site by King Herod the Great – that is the building which is so frequently mentioned in the New Testament."
"The temple Mount occupies about 1/6th of the total area of the old city of Jerusalem and this is one of the most important cornerstones of Western Civilization. It is at the moment the focus of a political battle and it is embodies within it the crux of the Near-Eastern conflict as both parties claim to have historical linkage to the site."
"The Temple Mount represents the Near Eastern conflict in a nutshell and whatever happens to the Temple Mount will happen to the rest of the country. If the Temple Mount is under Palestinian rule and there is no accessibility to Jews to the Temple Mount and no control upon the antiquities discovered there that means that the legitimacy of Jews in the entire country is questioned."
"The gigantic stones of the Temple Mount are mentioned in the New Testament; Jesus was presented upon the Temple Mount as an infant, and later in his career he chased away the money changers from the Temple Mount; there are approximately twenty references to the Temple Mount in the New Testament and beyond any doubt the Temple Mount is an integral part of the Christian Heritage… it should be sacred and important to any civilized person all around the world.
"I am amazed that there was a world outcry concerning the blowing up of the statues of Buddha in the Bamiyan Valley by the Taliban Authorities in Afghanistan while the destruction on the Temple Mount didn’t hit the media and there was no outrage expressed."
In this session, Mr. Caspi recounts his frustrating experiences with the Prime Minister's Office and calls on people to contact the Prime Minister and American elected officials on behalf of preserving the Temple Mount.
Dr. Barkay makes his motivation clear when he says that he would support independent archaeologists carrying our excavations on the Temple Mount if that would save the irreplaceable antiquities that are now in harms way.

Listen now to Bennett Zimmerman and his American-Israel Demographic Research Group debunk the myths that demographic trends will turn Jerusalem into an Arab dominated city. Zimmerman sets the record straight about the counting of Arabs who do not live in Jerusalem, the fertility rates that show no difference between the Arab and Jewish populations, and the Jewish growth rate in Jerusalem's suburbs. Zimmerman is also critical of Israeli policies that are based on false demographic data. Zimmerman's important research can be found at http://www.aidrg.com/

In a wide-ranging discussion with bloggers, Dr. Arieh Eldad a member of the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) and reserve Brigadier General discusses the serious challenges facing the State of Israel in the near term.
He shares his views on the so-called “moderate” Muslims, including Abu Mazen. He dissects the Saudi “peace plan” and he answers the question of what went wrong in the battle with Hezbollah. Dr. Eldad expresses his heartfelt belief that Israel must reject the two-state solution that every diplomat seems wedded to and the dire need to educate its young in the principals of Zionism. Even though he is a member, Dr. Eldad is very clear about the shortcomings of the leadership of the Right wing camp in Israel.
This interview/discussion offers many insights into the political, security, and international challenges facing the State of Israel. It is worth spending some time with an articulate defender of the Jewish state.
Ted Belman and Jerry Gordon of Israpundit and Pamela of Atlas Shrugs were among the bloggers on the call.

Click here to listen. One Jerusalem had the privilege of hosting a bloggers conference call with John O'Sullivan author of the important new book: The President, the Pope, and the Prime Minister - Three Who Changed the World.
Aome of the bloggers on the call were: Ralph Kostant from The Hedgehog Blog, Jim Hoft from Gateway Pundit, Rick Richman from Jewish Current Issues, and Avi Green from Tel Chai Nation. Mr. O'Sullivan is one of the leading public affairs analysts of our day. Along with serving Prime Minister Thatcher, he has been an important influence on the American Conservative movement as editor of National Review and the Public Interest. Mr. O'Sullivan recounts the hurdles overcome by President Reagan, Pope John Paul II, and Prime Minister Thatcher in their quest to topple the Soviet Empire. O'Sullivan presents a compelling answer to the question what would this trio have done to deal with the Muslim threat. O'Sullivan tells how near the end of his life the Pope was hugely disappointed in the lack of substantive response by Muslims to his attempts to build bridges to the Islamic world. In answer to Rick Richman's question about what should our current leaders learn from these predecessors, O'Sullivan delves into the need to clearly express your principled position. That words of appeasement strengthen the enemy while words of clarity -"The Evil Empire"- strengthen domestic opponents of tyranny. Take the time to listen to this wide ranging conservation it will be worth it.

Listen to the bloggers conversation with former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith. In recent weeks Secretary Feith has been characterized as the evil genius behind making the case for invading Iraq by Senator Carl Levin, The New York Times, and other liberal media outlets. The Left has made its case by distorting the facts. Doug Feith has received backing from the Wall Street Journal, The New York Sun, General Peter Pace, and Hugh Hewitt. In fact, Chief of Staff Chairman General Peter Pace has said about Doug Feith, "It irritates me, not that anyone would question his thoughts or his policies - that is absolutely fair game -but that anyone would question his loyalty or his motives. I have watched this man for four years. He cares only about what is best for the United States." In this One Jerusalem call, Feith refers to a Defense Department memo and Senate Armed Service Committee hearings. These documents and more are referenced at Red State. Red State also has a long commentary on the campaign against Feith. As you will hear in our conference call there appears to be a deliberate campaign to use Feith to discredit President Bush and his policies. Some of the bloggers on the call included Pastorius from Infidel Bloggers Alliance, Jim from Gateway Pundit, Richard Baehr from The American Thinker and Rick Richman from Jewish Current Issues.

Listen to One Jerusalem’s exclusive and exciting bloggers conference call with Ambassador Dore Gold as he discusses his recently released book The Fight For Jerusalem.
Ambassador Gold shares with us his analysis of the importance of Jerusalem in radical Islam’s fight with Israel and the West. He describes the growing popularity in the Muslim world of denial that King Solomon’s Temple ever existed and plans to base a new Caliphate in Jerusalem. He presents details of the persecution Christians in Bethlehem.
Dr. Gold argues that giving the Islamic forces Jerusalem will increase not decrease terrorism because it empowers the enemies of the United States, Israel, and the West. Dr. Gold says giving away Jerusalem will create a "Jihadi Tsunami."
Dr. Gold also gives his critical analysis of the Baker Hamilton Commission report.
Allen Roth President of One Jerusalem urged everyone to join The Fight For Jerusalem.

Click here to listen to this terrific call. Pastor Hagee is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church, an evangelical church with 18,000 active members. Pastor Hagee is also the President and CEO of John Hagee Ministries which telecasts a national radio and television ministry to Americans on 160 T.V. stations, 50 radio stations, eight networks and 99 million homes, weekly worldwide. John Hagee Ministries reaches Africa, Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and most of the Third World. In addition to founding a global media ministry, Pastor Hagee is the author of 21 major books, the latest being Jerusalem Countdown -- which made USA Today's best seller list. Many of his books have been best sellers, with one, The Beginning of the End, reaching the New York Times best seller list. In February 2006, Pastor Hagee decided the time had come to create a national grassroots movement focused on support for Israel. He called upon Christian leaders from across America to join him in launching this new initiative. Over 400 Christian leaders, each representing a denomination, mega-church, media ministry, publishing company, or Christian university, answered the call and Christians United for Israel was born. In July 2006, CUFI hosted its first mission to Washington, sending thousands of pro-Israel Christians to Capitol Hill to lobby in support of Israel. In September 2006, when the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations hosted an anti-Iran rally in front of the UN, Pastor Hagee's wife, Diana, attended the event, along with thousands of Christian supporters of Israel from all over the United States. Pastor Hagee is the founder of " A Night to Honor Israel" which is celebrated annually at the Cornerstone Church and broadcast over national and international television. "A Night to Honor Israel" is a non-conversionary tribute to the nation of Israel and the Jewish people of the world. In November 2006, Pastor Hagee hosted the first "National Night to Honor Israel," where he donated over $7 million to Israeli charities in one evening! In addition, Pastor Hagee's ministry has given millions of dollars to bring the Jewish exiles of the world home to Israel. The ministry has provided comfort and consolation to the Jewish people, through the building of orphanage facilities, absorption centers and hospitals. In our call, Pastor Hagee spoke about Christians United for Israel, why Christians support Israel and why supporting Israel has become such a priority to them. Pastor Hagee formed CUFI to perform three functions: 1. To provide a rapid response team of tens of millions of Christians to contact Washington, on a moment's notice, on issues pertaining to Israel. 2. To organize an annual Washington Summit that would bring thousands of Christians to Capitol Hill with he sole purpose of advocating for Israel. 3. To host a Night to Honor Israel in every major U.S. City. It is a joy and a treat to listen to a man who says what he means, and means what he says. Pastor Hagee feels that every Bible-believing Christian is obligated to support Israel, and Pastor Hagee sees it as his mission to unite Christians for this purpose. This call is not to be missed. Pastor Hagee is an honest, sincere and genuine friend of Israel and the Jewish people. His support should be embraced and appreciated. In the United States to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award, Natan Sharansky stopped at One Jerusalem's world headquarters to participate in a bloggers conference call.
Natan, Chairman of One Jerusalem, fielded bloggers questions on the Baker-Hamilton report, the troubles in Gaza, President Bush, and Iran.
Sharansky described the Baker recommendation as appeasement that will encourage the enemies of Israel and the United States to continue their aggression against the West. He attributed the disarray in Gaza to the policies of the United States and Israel that propped up the dictator Arafat, and allowed Hamas to run in Parliamentary elections.
As Omri points out, Natan speaks with a fervor and clarity that is quite clear. It isn't enough to read the recaps of this call - you must listen to the audio.
Joining One Jerusalem on the call were Joel Rosenberg, Chad of GDLL, Anne Lieberman of Boker Tov Boulder, David Bogner from Treppenwitz, Omri Ceren of Mere Rhetoric, Jerry Gordon from Israpundit, Kim Priestap of Wizbang.

One Jerusalem had the privilege of hosting a bloggers conference call with Will Marshall, President of the Progressive Policy Institute, editor of With All Our Might and a founder of Democrat Leadership Council. In response to questions from bloggers, Mr. Marshall presented his thoughts on what American policy should be toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Iraq, Iran, and Europe. Mr. Marshall, who describes himself as a Truman Democrat, expressed concern about the increasing influence of "neo-realists on the right and the left." He feels that American foreign policy works best when it reflects the moral sentiments and political values of the American people. You can hear his discussion with bloggers here. Dr. Ganor is the founder of the Institute for Counter Terrorism, the author of numerous books and articles, and a former adviser on international terrorism to leading governmental leaders in the State of Israel.
Dr. Ganor entitled his briefing: Global Jihadi Terrorism and the Use of the Internet.
He discussed why the current threat of global Jihadi Islam is the greatest danger the world has ever faced and why the conflict is far more dangerous than the Cold War. The new threat is the synergy between al-Qaeda and like minded terrorist networks with Muslim communities in western societies and using these "western" Muslims to launch attacks and promote a radical Islamist agenda. The terrorists are using tools like the Internet to galvanize support and indoctrinate many Western Muslims into their ideology of hate.
Dr. Ganor discussed how terrorists are using blogs, forums, and chat-rooms to recruit allies among Muslims living in the West. Many Muslims living in the West are second generation immigrants, many feel discriminated, searching for an identity, many are young looking to belong to something bigger than them with a goal for their lives.
The terrorists give them a black and white solution - revenge against humiliation. This misuse of the Internet is a growing threat, very dynamic and poses a new challenge to western societies. Conquering terrorism has to involve many methods but without real international cooperation we cant reach efficiency in dealing with it. Ultimately, Dr. Ganor stressed that the only was to combat this threat is with the help of the "moderate" Muslim regimes. Global Jihad is a problem within the global Islamic society. Radicals threaten Muslim regimes like Christians and Jews. Non-radical Muslims must unite and deal with this incitement and indoctrination. They need to use this not for altruism but to save themselves from the radicals. Some of the other bloggers on the call: Banagor of Broadsword, Anne Lieberman of Boker Tov Boulder, and Jerry Gordon of Israpundit.

One Jerusalem hosted a bloggers conference call with the co-author of The Case for Democracy, Ron Dermer. Ron has served as an adviser to Natan Sharansky and Benjamin Netanyahu and today serves as Israel’s Minister of Economic Affairs in the United States.
Ron discussed the impact of the war on Israel’s economy and offer his insights into a wide-range of foreign and security issues facing the State. Along with the above experiences Ron is an expert on Israeli politics. Ron began by explaining that Israel's economy is strong for three reasons:
1. Israel was fortunate that Benjamin Netanyahu was finance minister. He had the keys to the "economic kingdom" and he achieved major overhaul of the economy. He completely overhauled fiscal policies and fortunately his successors successors maintained his changes.
2. Israel has the finest Central Banker in the world - Stanley Fischer. 3. The main reason Israel's economy is so strong is because of its most important resource - people. Ron went on to explain that the mood in Israel not good . This is the result of a combination of anger and apathy. However, Ron is far more optimistic about Israel’s future after the war then he was before. This is because he did not know if Israeli's were willing to fight.
Despite the mistakes made by the government in not finishing the job, 90% of Israeli's were ready and willing to fight. While the mood might be bad, the resolve is crystal clear. Ron's Comments on the US Elections - Israel is only the front lines against fanatic Islam. The relevant question is whether the new leaders of Congress recognize the dangers and do they have a plan to confront these things. Many may be supportive of Israel but do they recognize the dangers and will they do what is necessary to win? If the U.S. goes back to pre-911 mentality they will not win. This is why Joe Lieberman is the key. You can’t fight if only half the country is fighting. Democrats can’t lose the Scoop Jackson’s or Pat Moynihan's, the fight against radical Islam must be bi-partisan.

More important than his output is his message. Mark Steyn clearly understands the dangers facing Western Civilization and we should be thankful that he is dedicating his enormous talents to battling the forces of evil. Mark joined a One Jerusalem bloggers conference call to discuss his new book America Alone.
Even though I have read many articles and essays by him the book makes a unique contribution to the debate over what are the Islamic challenges facing the West and what must be done to defeat them. Mark's book-length treatment of this subject should be read by every policymaker in the West. UPDATED-- Click here to listen!Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch and author of the new book The Truth About Muhammad, participated in a One Jerusalem sponsored conference call with bloggers from the United States and Israel. During this discussion, Mr. Spencer shared with us important insights from his book and his opinions of Islam that are based on his exhaustive study and monitoring of the Islamic world. Recently, he told us, a radical Islamic web-site declared him an enemy of Islam. In the conversation, Mr. Spencer talked about Muhammad's attitude toward Christians and Jews, Muhammad's significant role today in the world of radical Islamists, and the total commitment of Muhammad's Islam to the conquering of other religions. Mr. Spencer talked about the growing Muslim agitation in Europe and the failure of moderate Muslims to speak up against the radicals. He also called on non-Islamic governments to weed out Muslim radicals who attempt to enter their countries. In answer to a question, Mr. Spencer said that the growing strength of Islam in Europe is propelled by the ever growing size of the Islamic communities. So far that is less of a factor in the United States. Mr. Spencer also set the record straight on Jerusalem: Jerusalem plays no role in the life of Muhammad expect in one legend. (Which was disputed by one of his wives.) Instead, Mr. Spencer contends, Jerusalem is seen in the Islamic world as another Christian and Jewish entity to be conquered because it is significant to those other religions. Mr. Spencer confirmed that the powers of the ancient world ignored the rise of Muhammad and Islam and they paid a very high price for this mistake. He fears that history may be repeating itself again. Mr. Spencer expressed mixed feelings about President Bush's handling of the Islamic threat. He does not doubt the President's commitment to the cause but he questions some of his policy decisions. Having read The Truth About Muhammad, I heartily recommend it. Even those who follow the Muslim situation closely will find facts that will illuminate their understanding. I wish every elected official would read and learn from this important text. I'm going to buy a few extra copies for my Congressman and two United States Senators. Listen now! One Jerusalem hosted a bloggers conference call with Yehudit Barsky to discuss the case of Shoaib Choudhury. Choudhury is a Bangladeshi journalist who is going on trial on October 12 for the bogus crime of sedition - punishable by death. In fact, Choudhury's only crime is believing that Muslims, Jews and Christians could get along. Ms. Barsky is the Director of the Division on Middle East and International Terrorism at the American Jewish Committee. For background and more details of Choudhury's case see our posting below and these excellent postings from Rick Richman at Jewish Current News and Omri at Mere Rhetoric. ACTION ITEMS:Ms. Barsky recommends we do two things: 1. Contact the Bangladeshi Ambassador to the U.S. Shamsher M. Choudhury at bdootwash@bangladoot.org or at 202-244-0183 and let him know that such behavior is unacceptable from "an ally of the U.S. in the war on terror." Bangladesh is currently the recipient of U.S. aid dollars and the government of Bangladesh needs to know that U.S. citizens will not stand for such behavior. 2. Contact Congressman Mark Kirk of Illinois to thank him for championing the cause of Mr. Choudhury. Congressman Kirk was able to secure Mr. Choudhury's release from prison once before after threatening to withhold U.S. aid to Bangladesh and his efforts to stop this severe human rights abuse should be encouraged.
